It's Rudy (more speculation)

So many e-mailers this morning are predicting that the McCain trial balloon is really about Giuliani. I'm not there, but here's one:

I don't think it's being floated for Liebermann or Ridge. I think he's considering Giuliani. - Might put NY in enough play to make Obama spend a lot of money there. - Has name recognition and gets plenty of respect on law enforcement/national security - Might be more palatable to pro-lifers if he were to make clear that it's McCain's pro-life administration The McCain campaign has already hired a Giuliani staffer as the unnamed veep's communications director...

I like Palin, but I doubt very many would vote for a woman with five kids to look after. Women know how tough that is along with a full-time job.

"...many people are waiting to see who his VP is going to be before deciding to write in or not vote."

I don't understand that thinking. To my knowledge, no VP candidate ever won or lost an election for the head of the ticket and it will be no different this time.

Oh, please. I am quite certain that McCain will severely damage this country.

But he'll do it as a republican, and in the name of conservatism, so that's A-OK...

I don’t think NRO is in the tank for Rudy- they came out for Mitt - but it was split with several strong Fred fans.

Why doesn’t somebody at McCain HQ get a clue and start shopping CABINENT positions for the daily media action line, instead of VP picks that aggravate the base?

For VP I say go with Palin (I am NOT above pandering to steal away some of the Hillary PUMA chicks).

Having said that, I was always one of Rudys biggest supporters here (one of the few still around) so I would be thrilled with this choice!!!!!

So flame away, nothing anyone could say could beat what was said to me last year on this site. I stayed because I said from the beginning that I would support whoever our eventual nominee was, and I meant it.

Nah... I like Rudy, but McCain's not dumb. He doesn't need to fight that battle, defending Rudy. His battle needs to be 0bama.

And the VP/Win-a-State strategery is old hat - that doesn't work any more, not since Kennedy picked LBJ to get Texas. They need to forget trying to pick off a state and choose someone who will be a good candidate.

NY is going to vote DemocRat regardless of who is on the ticket.

For VP I say go with Palin (I am NOT above pandering to steal away some of the Hillary PUMA chicks).

Neither is McCain...

He wants someone who will make him look like a moderate
Someone who will appeal to women voters
Someone who can steal democrat votes from Obama
He wants to be bi-partisain, and "reach across the aisle"

(And if he really DID pick the Hildabeast for a running mate we'd STILL have people here trying to convince us it would be better than voting for Obama)...

It won't be Rudy.

This would chase way too many people off the bandwagon. And it wasn't like Rudy's campaign was a well-run thing. It was a debacle.

McCain would have to be an outright idiot to pick Rudy.

I think it would be wise for McCain to avoid anybody who has or had cancer. (Giuliani, Thompson etc.)

Well...we usually decide on a president. Many on both sides seem to be waiting to see who the VP is going to be though. It’s like we have wrote them both, JM and BO off and will be deciding by VP, who will be president.I can’t remember that ever happening before. :’)
