It's Rudy (more speculation)
The Corner at National Review ^ | 19 August 2008 | Kathryn Jean Lopez

So many e-mailers this morning are predicting that the McCain trial balloon is really about Giuliani. I'm not there, but here's one:

I don't think it's being floated for Liebermann or Ridge. I think he's considering Giuliani. - Might put NY in enough play to make Obama spend a lot of money there. - Has name recognition and gets plenty of respect on law enforcement/national security - Might be more palatable to pro-lifers if he were to make clear that it's McCain's pro-life administration The McCain campaign has already hired a Giuliani staffer as the unnamed veep's communications director...

RinoRudy?

Pro-abortion Rudy?

only if McCain wants to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

While McCain will pick up counties that we have lost in every election since 1988 (Nassau and Suffolk counties being the most notable), there is not a chance in hell that McCain will overcome the overwhelming majorities for Obama in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens.

In NYC itself, Rudy is considered a has-been, especially considering the transient population of Manhattan, many of whom did not live in the city prior to Rudy or during his term. He would add NOTHING to the ticket.

John Ensign would be the best VP pick I can think of. But unfortunately....he’s probably too smart to run for that office.

Giuliani did not win a single state or delegate for a reason — because of his position on abortion and social issues. He won’t help McCain win in New York.
The only thing Giuliani does is anger the base.

***Compared to what...the outstanding, blindingly brilliant offerings of the DNC?!? UGH!!!***

Ummm, compared to real conservatives.

Compared to the DNC, we’re perhaps a step or 2 up at this point.

McCain will lose if he picks either Rooty Ghouliani or Mutt Romney.

I won’t vote Obama, but it will definitely seal the deal for a third party or write in.

BWHAHAHHAHHAAAH! Enter at your own risk!

I honestly don’t think he’s choosing Rudy for a second. But it’s fun to watch the media- and us- speculate.

I’d be happy with Palin- don’t mind Mitt- I like Cantor but he’s not ready- not sure about Pawlenty. I do NOT want my governor Crist- not thrilled with Kaisich and don’t trust Ridge.

It’s a depressing spectacle all around.

Mitt is my first VP choice (who you, you post it every day). I like Rudy as a NYer and would be fine with him as VP because he's a tough-on-terror no-nonsense guy. I know if he picks Rudy, or another pro-choice VP, it would not be pretty (as Rush just said). So I really hope it's Mitt. ;)

Rush just asked--how about Rick Santorum!

I don’t think the people that brag about voting for Obama, third party, sitting it out, etc., give a damn about Supreme Court Justices or ANYTHING except their own little fit-throwing-tempter-tantrum selves.

Is there still a “Ghouliani” pinglist around?

Speculation that McCain wishes to throw the election by picking Rooooody.

‘...He doesn’t need to fight that battle, defending Rudy. His battle needs to be 0bama....’

excellent point.....McCain NEEDS to battle Obama vs other Republicans. Hopefully, he and his staff have figured that out...

I have one word for you to think about..THREE!!! That's the number of Supreme Court Justices the next president will most liekly appoint..

If it's Giuliani I'll be way past giving a crap about that. Sorry.
