It's Rudy (more speculation)

So many e-mailers this morning are predicting that the McCain trial balloon is really about Giuliani. I'm not there, but here's one:

I don't think it's being floated for Liebermann or Ridge. I think he's considering Giuliani. - Might put NY in enough play to make Obama spend a lot of money there. - Has name recognition and gets plenty of respect on law enforcement/national security - Might be more palatable to pro-lifers if he were to make clear that it's McCain's pro-life administration The McCain campaign has already hired a Giuliani staffer as the unnamed veep's communications director...

Right. Gov. Palin’s story would create a real emotional depth to the pair of them, and the McCain’s have an equally unpublicized story which ties in with their general pro-life philosophy. (the adoption) I can’t think of anyone who might help McCain more than Gov. Palin. BUT
I don’t think he’s going to pick her. She might draw too much attention away from him. I’m afraid I think he’ll pick another colorless career Republican/

I don’t think so. The VP may end up being the people’s choice.

Rudy would certainly fire up the North East (it’s an Italian thing). ;) I like Rudy and Mitt for VP (flame if you must).

No way.

Even if he were to pick a baby killer, McCain knows that Rudy’s life was so trashy that there’s no way he could be picked. McCain was in the same primary. He saw Rudy blow huge pre-primary leads nationwide as soon as the facts started hitting the air.

I don’t believe this speculation. Rudy’s favorability went from astronomical to almost nothing thanks to the media’s determination to destroy him during the primary.

I will always believe that Bloomberg’s people were behind that.

Pity Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms have died. Either man running for VP would have made McCain look vibrant and youthful.

‘Isn’t John Kasich from Ohio?’

believe he is. lately, Kasich has been pretty strong in his comments when filling in for O’Reilly. he’s also been bashing pork/unnecessary spending.
...believe he’s pro-life.....correct??

"McCain has to pick a conservative pallatable veep in order for us to unite. Most conservatives are hoping for a 2012 McCain retirement and to vote for his conservative veep".

I disagree. McCain will win this election with a new coalition...a "coalition of the middle". The socons will be marginalized not unlike how Clinton marginalized the ultra-left.

Whether any of us agree with this approach or not, I believe it's going to happen...and I believe McCain will win on the turf abandoned by Obama and the lefty zealots.
