Biden calls for $1 billion in emergency aid to Georgia (will he be Obama's VP?)

** EXCERPT **

Fresh off a trip to the Republic of Georgia, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joe Biden said he will ask for $1 billion in emergency aid for the war torn country.

Biden, who is rumored to be very high on Sen. Barack Obama’s list of running mates, met with Georgia's president and prime minister on the trip, further burnishing his foreign policy credentials ahead of Obama’s decision.

“I left the country convinced that Russia's invasion of Georgia may be the one of the most significant event to occur in Europe since the end of communism,” said Biden.

“When Congress reconvenes, I intend to work with the administration to seek Congressional approval for $1 billion in emergency assistance for Georgia, with a substantial down payment on that aid to be included in the Congress' next supplemental spending bill.”

If you ask me, this guy Biden will be Obama's VP. Why? Because McCain has a great sense of humor, as we saw at the Saddlecreek forum just this past weekend. And Obama needs someone running with him who has that same off-the-cuff humor and Biden can deliver.

For example, anyone remember the Presidential debate 4-6 months back where Biden seemed like he was just there to crack jokes, knowing full well that his own campaign for President was not going anywhere?

I don't agree with Biden on really anything politically, but he's at least down to earth and can be funny in a way similar to McCain.

If I had to guess I would say Obama is not going to pick Kerry. We can probably rule him out. Even Obama has to know that two guys who have BOTH been torn to shreds by Corsi, running on the same ticket, would just provide more problems for Obama.

...the end of communism?....with the leaders of his own party practically worshiping Marx?

Biden is the greatest gas-bag in the United States Senate, a title for which there is a lot of competition. I hope BHO does choose him: it will doom the ticket.

“...that same off the-cuff-humor that Biden can deliver.”

The idea of sending $1 billion to that loser Saakashvili has me in stitches.

Expensive joke, Joe.

Good catch, especially when you consider the Communist Party endorsed Obama for President not too long ago.

It must be an election year if Biden is playing Hawk for Georgia...nonetheless, it’s still a better idea to arm them with a Billion rather than fight for them ourselves (which would be OK, too, just less desirable).

So, Biden gets one right. I’ll give credit where it’s due. Yes, let’s give Georgia a Billion $$ in emergency aid.

Bi-partisanship and all that!

One billion?!?!?!?!? Are we rebuilding the entire country? Providing Alps vacations and new Mercedes for all residents? That number is a little steep isn't it?

But I guess sounding 'Vice Presidential' is priceless...

Biden is an improvement over Obama. This does not mean I want him for president sicne, iirc, Biden also supports amnesty, and that is fatal for our way of life.

This thread was just posted and apparently Mark Haplerin over at TIME is saying Biden will be Obama’s VP. Couple that with the fact that he’s #1 (of the individual choices) on the Drudge poll and I’d say a Biden VP pick is coming. The people who frequent Drudge usually are in-the-know on these types of things, and the fact that Biden came in so high makes me wonder...

"Gravitas"

Looks like the decision has been made. Joe Biden has been chosen to be the adult on the ticket. Since Joe was an unexciting "also ran" in the primaries, I'm not sure what this accomplishes.

They don’t call him ‘slow joe’ for nothing. The republican/conservative blogs will begin their attack on him the moment he’s announced.
