If your child's school was invaded by Columbine-style killers, methodically murdering students in cold blood, would you want teachers to shoot to stop them? Gayle Fallon wouldn't. For that matter, Fallon doesn't think teachers "have it in them" to even try to save their students' lives. Fallon, the president of a teachers union in Houston, TX, made her views known during an Early Show segment this morning conducted by Harry Smith.
The topic was a decision adopted by a rural north Texas school district to permit teachers to carry guns in the classroom. As Harrold, TX School Superintendent David Thweatt explained, the decision was prompted by the school's close proximity to an interstate [presumably making it a tempting target], and its remotenessthirty minutes away from law enforcement. Thweatt made clear that all guns have to be approved by the school board and teachers have to undergo extensive safety and related training. None of that mattered to Fallon.
HARRY SMITH: Gayle, when you first heard about this, what was your reaction?
GAYLE FALLON: Initially I thought it was a joke. However, after a couple of media calls, we realized it wasn't and we were asked whether our district would consider it, and it was absolutely no way would we consider it. One of the things that hit me is, you know, Colombine and the other incidents were generally initiated by students. Now, I've been around teachers a long time. They don't have it in them to aim at a student and kill him. They'll freeze. Nor would I want them to.

Teachers union prez doesn’t think teachers could, should try to stop Columbine-like killers. Ping to Today show list.
“David Thweatt”
Good Lord.
Fallon is more deeply committed to disarming America than to protecting students.
I'll agree with her, there. Most would be out the door and halfway down the street at top speed before the first kids got shot. ;)
Ms. Fallon ..... guess you didn't hear about the Va. Tech professor who blocked his classroom door against the shooter with his own body to give his students more time to jump out windows .... and was killed. He didn't even have a gun ....
Great point.
Typical liberal BS....SUBMIT. Do not defend. SUBMIT to those that would harm you.
Nor, the assistant principal in Pearl, MS. that stopped the school shooting by using is concealed pistol.
Fallon, you are a piece of slug excrement!
Professor Liviu Librescu, Rest in Peace and Thank You for your sacrifice!
One of Lebrescu's students, Alec Calhoun said "When students realized the sounds were gunshots, they started flipping over desks for hiding places. Others dashed to the windows of the second-floor classroom, kicking out the screens and jumping from the ledge of the room." Calhoun said that just before he climbed out the window, he turned to look at the professor (Librescu), who had stayed behind to block the door. He was killed by gunshots while attempting to block the gunman's entrance.
The mere threat of weapons in the classroom would deter a lot of wanna-be shooters. Except in the hands of the likes of Ms. Fallon.
BTTT
More proof of how ignorant and useless those in “education” have become.
I missed that one. Thank you.
This teacher’s union president wants schools to remain victim buffets, because she is a coward. It only takes one armed and brave member of the faculty to minimize a tragedy.
This is a woman utterly lacking courage and sense.
Well, I am a retired teacher . If YOU were to try a “Columbine” like action in my school building or my wife’s (she’s armed too ) you wouldn’t get near our rooms if we had CCW laws in my district. One word ,STOP( moving ) then BANG!!
Agreed , most teachers cringe at even the word gun, but there are many like ourselves in the classroom .
She must not be from Texas (a transplant). She obviously doesn't understand the way things are done in Texas and the character of the people who live there.
"We do enough damage to kids already," she did not go on to say.
"And it was absolutely no way would we consider it?"
It, it, it, it, it, it, ..... speak proper English, beeeyotch!!!!
