A quick reading of the measure that will go before San Francisco voters in November to decriminalize prostitution easily could leave you with the misimpression that the measure is an exercise in fairness that demands that prosecutors go after men who abuse prostitutes and implement policies "to reduce institutional violence and discrimination against prostitutes." A careful reading of the initiative, "Enforcement of Laws Related to Prostitution and Sex Workers," however, shows a measure that shields child prostitution and traffickers of human beings.
"If I had just heard from the proponents, I would probably vote for it myself," said the Rev. Glenda Hope, whose San Francisco Network Ministries helped found the Tenderloin AIDS Resource, in the mistaken belief the measure is meant "to protect women." But as the executive director of SafeHouse, a residential center that helps women get off the streets, Hope knows too much.
Hope knows that the average age of entry into prostitution is 12 to 14. The office of San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, who opposes the initiative, has encountered prostituted children as young as 9 years old.
Yet the San Francisco ballot measure completely ignores the prostitution of children. The measure simply states, "Law enforcement agencies shall not allocate any resources for the investigation and prosecution of prostitutes for prostitution." Astonishingly, there's no exemption that encourages police to enforce the law for minors.
If the measure passes, the city is likely to become an international haven for pimps who peddle girls and boys, and perverts seeking sex with minors.

The California Penal Code can not be overturned by any vote of the residents of San Francisco. While they may direct their Chief of Police to de-emphasize the arrests of prostitutes for a misdemeanor act, sex with children is still going to be a major felony.
After viewing those photos, there is no question I am now homophobic. I think people need to know the truth of what goes on, as sickening as these photos were.
No. Las Vegas (Clark County) is the only part of Nevada it isn’t legal. The law stated it is legal in counties with under a certain population. Currently, that is Clark County. That’s why the closest brothels are in Pahrump (where Art Bell used to live).

I’ve heard stories of entire neighborhoods in which the least expensive house is several million dollars which smell exactly like seal ****. The laws won’t allow anybody to touch seals OR white sharks, and the later have the former penned into the beaches and won’t allow them out into the ocean to use the restroom. Who’d want to live in such a place??
And all the children will be crushed or burned.

Look at photos from “Up Your Alley” street fair. When I viewed them, I started dry-heaving. Hopefully SF disinfected the streets and walls because of body fluids sprayed about.

My grandmother lived in Oakland back in the 70’s and would take me to SF everytime I visited. SF was always my favorite city, not so much anymore.

Prostitution is illegal in Clark County Nevada (las Vegas) It is legal though in neighboring Nye County.
You are getting much more specific than I ever could.
I’ve never been to Las Vegas, so I don’t know where the brothels are.

well, if you catch someone having sex with a 14 year-old, prostitution laws have little to do with it. that’s rape and should be prosecuted as such. this proposal will not repeal the rape laws, right?
