Days after Russia scored a stunning geopolitical victory in the Caucasus, President Abdullah Gül of Turkey said he saw a new multipolar world emerging from the wreckage of war. The conflict in Georgia, Gül asserted, showed that the United States could no longer shape global politics on its own, and should begin sharing power with other countries. "I don't think you can control all the world from one centre," Gül told the Guardian.

There haas always been a tension between good and evil which the genius Gul seems to recognize
It seems like they are all doing there part to fullfill the Prophecy of Ezekiel 38 and 39..Either Putin is the Antichrist or he is leading his soon entrance
I thought Obama said that.
But even though he didn’t say it, I am sure he agrees.
I think the Turks these days aren’t really trying, just throwing hand grenades into whatever issue drives by. I really fail to see how a resurgent Russia in a multi-polar world helps Turkey one bit....but whatever floats Gul’s boat I guess.
The Guardian only wishes Russia had scored a “stunning political victory.” It hasn’t, and it’s already finding out that the whole venture may have been a little ill-advised. It will only become more certain of this in the days to follow.
Finally, after stabbing us in the back in the run-up to the Iraqi invasion, Turkey has a chance to play a useful role.
And this jerk blows it.
lol. Come and take it!
Or better yet, build a culture, economy and military that will allow you to wield such power instead of begging other countries for it.
Power in the hands of people without the ability to use it is a very dangerous thing indeed.
Sure, we can share. Let Europe take over its own defense for starters, no more money for Africa, they can pay their own bills. Palestine can get money and defenses from Egypt, and China can have Russia.
This is too rich. I’ve waited for the perfect time to say:
STUFF IT, TURKEY!
You mean you can’t control the world from one center? Really? I’d think about that one if I were him. [/sarc] I never knew the US that so much control...it explains a lot. Really it does.
If the Turks aren't so keen on their security relationship with the US, they can go make best friends with Mr. Putin.
No surprise that Turkey would opt to insult the US, Putin is making it clear about insults to Russia.
the ethical problem is that the u.s. does not see totalitarian regimes non-democratic oligarchies as equals.
but they see themselves as equals and demand equal play,
as do american leftists who support them.

I agree in the majority of your statement.
For once, I would love an isolationist president who just says “ENOUGH”. To those who hate us, you are on your own...NO help, no aid, no US dollars....and get the UN out of US soil.”
Turkey got a lot out of us during the Cold War, and they see an opportunity to regain that largesse in the current situation. Maybe we should just sic the Kurds on them.
It is inconceivable that Turkey would be indifferent to having Russia, especially a resurgent Russia, on its northern border.
