Cleveland High School theatre teacher and Student Council sponsor Laurie Anne Lewis was arrested Aug. 12 on charges of prostitution in downtown Houston.
According to a Houston Police Department spokesman, Lewis, 38, was arrested in an ongoing undercover operation.
Since Lewis arrest is part of a continuing investigation, the offense report regarding her arrest has not been made public. Charges were brought against Lewis by HPD officers early in the morning of Aug. 13.
Lewis posted a $500 cash bond later that day through local Houston bonding agency A Better Bail Bonds. She is scheduled to be arraigned in Harris County Criminal Court 2 on Aug. 20.
After learning of Lewis arrest, Cleveland ISD superintendent Kerry Cowart confirmed that Lewis had been arrested. Cowart went on to say that Lewis has been placed on paid administrative leave pending resolution of this matter, effective immediately.
Lewis had been teaching in CISD since August 2006. In addition to teaching theatre and sponsoring the Student Council, Lewis was also the sponsor for Cleveland High Schools One-Act Play competition.
Ummm...No!
No they don’t......I live about 12 miles from Cleveland, Tx. It ain’t no different from any other place as far as looks go. I’ve seen both kinds.......pretty and pretty ugly. :)
NOT GUILTY!
Shouldn’t she be the one PAYING for sex?
I was very confused, but the other guy set me straight.
She wasn’t engaging in prostitution your honour. She was performing research on Sex Ed and economics. She was doing this on her own time because she is dedicated to teaching our children. Condemn her? Nay, we should applaud her dedication. /Defense Lawyer spiel
It seems that she was getting one...of sorts.

Hey I saw this during the Texans game I know this gal fairly well but there was always something I couldn’t put my finger on
Guess I didn’t offer the right incentive
Too bad that phrase never adds, "said pay to be returned if convicted."
Innocent unless proved guilty, but the guilt, if found guilty, should accrue from the time of commission, not conviction.
The way it normal stands is, if 'not guilty', then it amounts to a paid vacation, allowing full concentration on one's case; if 'guilty', then it is an undeserved & unearned benefit, at the public expense.
You have to be kidding!
I would have sworn that there drama teacher was researching a role for a play she is writing.
As Garry Trudeau once said: Guilty, guilty, guilty.
