Wasn’t Warren the “Pastor” who stated that “Gorebull Warming” was the greatest threat to this country and that the church needed to help fund it?

Lemme guess, the first question out of Rick’s mouth to each will be, “If you are elected president, will you strive to do EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER TO STOP GLOBAL WARMING, before it is TOO LATE?”

Rick, get a clue. Maybe, even, get a purpose.

According to a recent NY Times article, Mr. Warren was quoted as saying:

“Since I’m their friend, I’m not going to give them any gotcha questions,” Mr. Warren said, adding that a typical query would be, “What’s the most difficult decision you’ve had to make, and how did you make it?”

I’m no expert on Rick Warren, but when liberals and progressives get together, anything is possible.

If Rick Warren was a genuine man of God, the Democrats would be calling him a nutcase and a racist.

And a homophobe. And a divider.

"Is this Rick Warren fellow a conservative or lib?"

"He is pro-abortion and pro-gay rights....McCain is gonna get ambushed."

100% incorrect regarding Rick Warren view.

In his 2004 Christian Voters Guide, sent to tens of thousands via email, Warren stated that abortion and gay marriage are strict violations of God's Laws(Words) and that Christians should vote to elect candidates that that oppose abortion and gay marriage.

He also stated the importance of voting for candidates that would support the nomination of strict constitutional judges to the higher courts.

Obamba fails on each of these "non-negotiable" Christian issues and McCain passes each test, if barely.

I'm sure someone here can find a copy of Rick Warren's 2004 Christian Voters Guide.

“WARREN: You’ve seen the face of compassionate conservatism and the face of compassionate liberalism. And what we have in common is compassion.” ~ TornadoAlley3

Speaking of “compassion”, I love this (excerpted) exchange:

Placing compassion over truth is the very essence of the soul pathology of liberalism. It pretty much explains all its failures (at least when we aren’t just dealing with pure subversive malevolence and rebellion).

Gagdad Bob said...
Compassion over truth is particularly catastrophic in the macro realm. Obviously there are times that it is appropriate in the micro arena, but even there, for example, a psychotherapist who has nothing to offer you but compassion is basically robbing you.

To put it another way, I know of countless psychologists who are compassionate imbeciles, as they pretty much dominate the profession.
6/25/2008 03:51:00 PM

Gagdad Bob said...
... it is very much possible to be compassionate in the absence of truth, unless you define compassion out of existence. For example, I have no doubt that Obama is a compassionate man. But he is also an idiot, which is my primary concern as a citizen.

Dennis Prager was making that very point the other day, that so-called compassion is almost always an ego driven need to be liked and a fear of rejection. It’s weakness masquerading as compassion. Give me the truth of Ronald Reagan any day over the “compassion” of a Jimmy Carter. The former helped liberate millions, while the latter cozies up to any tyrant with his self-righteous compassion.
Male compassion generally comes down to identifying what is of value and kicking the ass of those who threaten it. Female compassion is another mater.

Gagdad Bob said...
This is why I dreaded the term “compassionate conservatism,” being that conservatism is intrinsically compassionate. It is liberal policies that end in cruelty — uneducated children, the destruction of the black family, mismanaged cities, increased crime, etc., etc.

And um, what everyone else already said.
Give me a kick in the ass compassion anyday over the milquetoast enabling compassion of idiots.

Hunh. It is interesting that one who thinks of ignorance as the chief problem and not sin finds compassion of the highest importance. One would think he would find -truth- of the greatest importance, since that’s the cure for ignorance.
I prefer Truth-seeking perhaps in part because of my disposition, but sin, which is ‘to miss the mark’ is certainly man’s problem. And according to the old stories, it’s man’s desire to get stuff that he ain’t ready for yet that messes him up.
Sometimes we’ve gotta go blind, get a limp or lose a finger before we’re ready, yaknow, yaknow.
Besides, if the Truth is a person - what could be more important than him? Mercy comes from truth, and thus compassion from truth.

Marxism is a form of communism. The latter has always existed, since man’s “socialism” is ontologically and developmentally prior to his individualism.

Rick has all but endorsed Obama. He referred to Obama as 'amazing' and said he has what it takes. Rick has pulled a John Kerry on those issues. I would bet Rick's 2008 Christian Voter Guide will be silent on taking a position on either of those issues.

Rick Warren: Official Pastor of Campaign 2008

I've been trying to decide which is more troubling: That our two candidates for president are making their first joint campaign appearance at a church, or that the pastor of that church has put himself in the position of campaign moderator.

I'm leaning toward the pastor.

Politicians will be politicians, after all. John McCain and Barack Obama are running for office and everything they do is calculated to win votes. They both want and need the evangelical Christian vote and they have shown they are willing to do just about anything to get it. We expect that, and so far we seem to be OK with that. What if their host Saturday evening wasn't Rick Warren but Pat Robertson? Or Jeremiah Wright? Or Louis Farrakhan? Imagine the uproar.

Rick Warren's role in this made-for-TV event is even more distressing and possibly just as calculating.

Since all but endorsing George W. Bush in 2004, Warren has wisely and commendably avoided getting involved in partisan politics. "I have never been considered a part of the religious right, because I don't believe politics is the most effective way to change the world," he told Time magazine.

Neither did Warren's Lord and Savior.

So why is the pastor of California's Saddleback megachurch pastor inserting himself into such a high-profile and high-risk political role? Megachurch megalomania? Only Warren knows for sure...
