WICHITA, KN -- A lawsuit boiling in Wichita, Kansas over an English-only policy could have major ramifications for a Catholic school.
Saint Anne's Catholic school, its principal, the church and the diocese are being sued for implementing an English only policy at school.
When some students refused to sign a pledge to honor the policy they were expelled and their parents filed suit.
Three families are suing alleging that the policy discriminates against those who speak other languages and lawyers for the families say it's racial discrimination and therefore violates their civil rights.
The school says the policy was a response to problems in school environment, saying that if a student uses a language other than English to speak ill of others that it's not fair.
Supporters of the school are troubled by the lawsuit and point out that students who attend Saint Anne's do so by choice.
All of the families in this case are legal immigrants or American citizens.
The case is expected to conclude by Friday.
Don't you wish that were so; check out a doctrine called "disparate impact," and weep for America.
Private schools are ALLOWED to do such things. This is a lawsuit to nowhere.
You’re right. If this is a Wichita Catholic school then the tuition is FREE.
I am willing to bet the farm that those three families are **plants** from the NEA and the atheisitic Secular Humanist DemonRATS!
Witchta, Catholic schools are **FREE**. Every Catholic child in the these schools can attend FREE! The members pull this off through tithing.
I bet these families are merely in the school as operatives of the NEA and Democrats in an effort to bankrupt this **marvelous** free program for Catholic youth.
If this idea of FREE schools for Christian youth were to catch on throughout the country...Well!...We **know** what would happen to government teaching jobs and votes for the Democratic Party.
Catholic schools in Wichita are FREE to all Catholic children. Huh?...So? ..Where's the contract? Should the school give the parents their money back?
But,,,Maybe it is possible that these children are not Catholic and they are paying tuition . The writer doesn't give these details.
My grandmother wouldn't speak her native language in front of Americans for that reason, that they would know that she was not mean mouthing them.
At one time immigrants had integrity. Not so much anymore.

In 1959 there were 3 Hispanics in my school, Junior, my best friend, and his sisters Gracy and Cookie. Their dad was an engineer at RCA.
2008 in the same neighborhood I have a 5 year old that starts school this September. There are 22 white kids and 425 Mexicans. The school has an API score of 779 and an API year over year growth of -4.
I think it is time to give California more money for schools for protecting us from peasant immigrants.
The ONLY solution is enforcement of the immigration laws.
Secure BOTH borders.
Deport ALL illegals including the incarcerated foreigners and foreign Muslims.
And fine employers who hire illegals.
Either we are at war and a country of borders or we aren’t!
But, I’m tired of Mexico dumping their trash, drugs and problems on our back porch! Mexico is one of the richest countries on the planet and it’s way past time for Mexicans to go home and either solve their problems with Mexico and/or “get in line” just like everyone else who emigrated to this country had to do!
And Hispanic Americans are the folks who are most upset about the illegal immigrant invasion! It’s their livelihood that has been most violated!

You make a great point,unfortunately the powers that be won't even address it because it makes too much sense! I grew up in Miami and attended both a Catholic grade school and high school. That was throughout the 60s and we often had Cuban refugee students joining the class during the school year. The nuns would allow them to get acclimated for a month or two and then they HAD to try to respond in class in English. The sisters went out of their way to give the Cuban girls, I went to all girls schools, extra instruction to help them learn to read and write English. By the end of the year it was amazing what they could do. Sure the language they spoke and wrote was very broken and rudimentary, but by gosh it was English.

So let the little bastards back in, ignore them when they speak other than English, only speak English to them, fail their asses when they can’t perform and put their money in the bank.
And I bet by the time the girls finished school they were prepared to be successful and not just limited to menial jobs because of their lack of ability to speak English.
I was a bar manager at a local country club for about 10 yrs. 90% of our staff were legal immigrants from El Salvador and the Phillippines. They would gather in the coffee room and chat in their own language. Problem was whatever was said in the coffee room could be heard by the members in our small ‘Grill Room’ where the bar was.
I finally trained them to stop. I just thought it was rude.
