Now that it's broken out into the open, there's something about the Edwards-Hunter affair that makes it impossible to ignore.
I know all the arguments about how the private lives of politicians should remain private, and that if it's OK with the spouse or spouses, why should we inquire.
Truth is, it wasn't so long ago that I was making all those arguments myself. And I'm the first to acknowledge that as much as some of us in the media might like to claim that what's at issue here is not the sex but the lying about it (not to mention Howard Wolfson's crazy theory that it cost Hillary the nomination), the fact is that what we're all really interested in is the sex.
Nonetheless ...
What bothers me, in no particular order: First, the hypocrisy. Former Sen. John Edwards, addressing the question of Moncia Lewinsky's relationship with then President Bill Clinton, was full of holier-than-thou outrage about the injury Clinton had inflicted on his wife and daughter.
Sen. Edwards said on Feb. 12, 1999: "I think this president has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen."

Hmmmm, I wonder if she said the same thing about BJ Bill?
At least there wasn’t an abortion.
I really think this affair is being set up to hurt other candidates . Why else would the rats help keep it going ?
or a rape.
How do we know there wasn't? All we know is that there is one baby that wasn't aborted.

You failed to mention the most important aspect of this whole tale. This behavior was coverup and to some extent is still being covered up by the main stream press. What is more the MSM have the balls to criticize the National Enquirer for getting it right. I would dare say in 6 months this story will be a faint memory for most people. But the coverups will continue. They cover because their loyalty to the constitution and the people rank a distant second and third to their political ideology. That is the most destructive part of this story. The entire nation should take note that this information should have been put out by the media who covered Edwards. They had heard about it. They just didn't care enough to look into it because it would have disgraced a democrat who saw the world the way they see it.
America,....on guard. For your freedom comes a price....forever on your guard, lest you loose it.
But not breathtaking enough for you to vote to convict Mr. Clinton of any of the charges for which he was impeached, you hypocrite!
Why of couse not! This one is gonna bring in the 'big bucks' if it's his.(Sarc)
One spouse cheated without the other spouse knowing. Now there's a newborn. The RATS will have plenty to explain at the RAT convention.
They can start with Spitzer...
I don’t find it Intriguing or Bothersome. I’m just glad to see a limousine liberal phoney politician/ambulance chaser got what he so richly deserved.
Actually, the thing not one person in the press has touched is - if Edwards was willing to openly lie to try to keep this under wraps, what kind of blackmail could have been used against him as President or Vice President by the enemies of the U.S.?
Guess he’s going to have to go back to Bankrupting Baby Doctors.
Pray for W and Our Troops
“At least there wasnt an abortion.”
How do you know??
Upon hearing that his mistress was pregnant, John Edwards had two things to say... 1.) I thought the bi$ch was dried up. 2.) Who do I sue for this Medical Mistake?
Edwards’ wife is really feeling the backlash.
He pushed her out front with the cancer thing to garner sympathy, and attention for his candidacy-—the wife loved the spotlight.
The both of them are nowhere now.
You can bet there would have been blackmail big time.
Ha! Making and having that kid was probably in her mind the whole time. Here she is with the bio-clock running out and then gets a chance at Presidential Sperm Donorship (and a steady check)!
