Edwards' Camp Funneled Money To Mistress' Firm ["This is a very elaborate cover-up.....]

Edwards' Camp Funneled Money To Mistress' Firm Reporting Marcia Kramer NEW YORK (CBS) ― John Edwards and his associates went to great lengths to keep his affair a secret, even moving thousands of dollars in campaign funds around to keep things quiet.

The latest questions surrounding the Edwards affair involve efforts to funnel money to his paramour, Rielle Hunter, months after she had stopped working for him.

The Edwards campaign wanted the money to come from his political action committee, but the committee was out of cash, so the money had to be handled and manipulated carefully.

In April of 2007, the committee had only $7,932 in the bank, so Edwards' presidential campaign gave the political action committee $14, 035. The transfer was explained as an alleged attempt to cover the cost of office furniture, and just like that, the committee now had enough money to pay Hunter's firm $14,086.

"This is a very elaborate cover-up in attempt to avoid responsibility, in attempt to hope somehow that someone will believe it," Hank Sheinkopf, political consultant, said.

“This is a very elaborate cover-up in attempt to avoid responsibility, in attempt to hope somehow that (Elizabeth) will believe it...”

I pity her in some ways, but she’s a Liberal. So, too bad, so sad. You chose poorly, Grasshopper.

explained as an alleged attempt to cover the cost of office furniture,

make that " used office furniture," and it's fairly accurate.

No, it's eliminating Edwards if the super delagates think Barry can't win and want someone else.

Who's left? Old Cankles, herself!

They’re just making absolutely sure that Edwards cannot be VP. Narrowing his choices.

Worth a read, commentary on Fred Baron’s financial finagling for Silky phony.

Article gives link to the NY Times’ sudden interest in the case.
Edwards is lucky if he isn’t prosecuted, and his luck hasn’t been too good lately.

I think it’s just going to be a salvage effort for the press, “sure, we were asleep at the switch, but now we’re really on it.”

Sleazy lawyer reveals himself to be a slezeay lawyer. This was pretty clear from the beginning to anyone who cared to pay attention, yet he was put forth as a potential president of the United States.

It’s become all about who the people behind them think they can package and sell. It’s just become a marketing thing.

ENQUIRING MINDS ON EDWARDS

OY, has the National Enquirer got stuff piled up on the future very private citizen John Edwards. Oy. And another - oy. Not only are they on the case 10 months, but they’ve had PIs on the case for months. Executive Editor Barry Levine tells me, “Although, as you’ve probably read, our organization, American Media, is under the gun, they have nevertheless devoted really big money to this.”

MORE: Aide’s Mom Wants DNA Test for John
http://www.nypost.com/seven/08152008/news/nationalnews/aides_mom_wants_dna_test_for_john_124562.htm

Levine claims the huge sum they’ve spent on this story is only a spit to “the enormous amounts we know Edwards is spending to keep it contained. But he can’t.

We’ve followed the money trail. He bought her [Rielle Hunter] a $1 million house in North Carolina. Few days before our headlines forced him to go public, he spent $150,000 just on a private plane to whisk her to some undisclosed place.

She was moved in the middle of the night. Lots of money is being spent to keep her happy and away from the media.

*snip*

We had the big OJ stories, we broke the Jesse Jackson lovechild story, we unearthed the Clinton girlfriend stories. We’ll stay on this one forever.”

It must be a terrible feeling to base so many of your plans on the assumption that the MSM is in your pocket and can be counted on to carry your water, and then have a more charismatic candidate come along and suck all that sweet MSM sympathy out of the room.

Is it even legal to use campaign funds for something that’s clearly personal like this?

Edwards is on my top ten list of Democrats I want out of politics for life.

This seals the deal.

What a worm.

There is a reason she was given a no work, no experience needed, no responsibility with the campaign. Doing so made his payments to her an employment expense for the campaign. She got $100K plus for doing virtually nothing. And then after she was no longer employed by the campaign, it paid her $14K for some more of her film footage.

I think it depends on your political party. If the person in question is a Republican it definitely is illegal. Otherwise, ....... it is really not a big deal.

It does show the depth of DemoCommie thinking....about as deep as a dinner plate.

An ambulance chaser who sues innocent doctors to make his millions. Owns a gigantic carbon footprint of an estate, as he tells the rest of us we need to cut back. Cheats on his supposedly terminal wife, not to mention the devastation this must cause to his kids. Fired by his constituents after one term for being a do-nothing Senator.

But never mind all that. He's pretty, has nice hair, and tells them he will give them lots of free stuff.
