It is Army Day in Poland, as today the anniversary falls of the triumph of Polish forces over the Soviets in 1920, also called the ‘Miracle on the Vistula’.
One of the main events to celebrate this day is a military parade that goes through Warsaw. Over 1200 Polish soldiers are to march through Poland’s capital, with French, German, Ukrainian, Slovakian and Lithuanian companies also present.
Apart from an infantry presence, heavy military machinery is also to grind its way through the streets of Warsaw, such as Leopard 2A4 and PT-91 Twardy tanks. Over 40 aircraft are to buzz the city, including such flying gems as the F-16, Su-22 and MiG-29.
As tradition confers, August 15 is also the day when promotions are bestowed upon generals. The day was conferred as Army Day in 1923 and remained so until 1947, when it was moved to October 12 to commemorate the Battle of Lenino in 1943. The date was returned to August in 1992.

Thanks. Sort of interesting to see what looks like French Regimental flags. I wonder if that is for the French delegation or Polish Regiments that fought with Napoleon.
My wife teaches large numbers of Polskas in her school in Maspeth, Queens. These are hard working, industrious folks. They are also proud and work hard to maintain their heritage, at their own expense of course. She says about them, if the Russians come the Poles will not go gently. She also spent much of her elementary schoolyears in a Polish Parish School, also in Maspeth. One of her memories is a painting in a classroom of Poilsh nuns being machine gunned by the SS. I agree with her opinion, the Poles will not go gently.

I wonder what sort of tanks those are. Seems like two different kinds of MBTs. M60’s?
And Russia is threatening Poland on this day. The more things change the more they stay the same.
The soldiers in the historical photos rocked!!! Loved the Napoleonic and what looks like 17th century lancers. What is up with the elaborate feather pieces? Really interesting.
The first photos look like Soviet designs perhaps T-80s. The 2nd group of tanks are German designed Leopard IIs. You can tell by the rectangular turrets with no sloping.

You bet the Poles won’t go quietly. As one Polish officer
said after Munich ... “we are not the Czechs!”
They look like Soviet T-72s (with ERA) and German Leopard 2s.

I was thinking the same thing. May God richly bless Poland and all the Polish people, especially her service men and women on this day. Let this Army Day stand as your response to Russia's sinister threat to your nation.
