EMAIL FROM TBILISI
my email ^ | august 15th, 2008 | my friend in tbilisi

Posted on 08/15/2008 11:32:27 AM PDT by MarMema

My dear friend,

I hope God will bless Georgia and all People who lives there - Georgians and other nations.

We are tired to live under Russia's pressure. They didn't change. Their mentality still is communist, fascist mentality. They didn't change even the hymn - it is the same as it was in Soviet Union.

Georgia is the part of Europe. We have the right to live like all other Europe ( not Russia) lives.

It is strange, that all other world can't press Russia to move back. It seems, that Russia is more stronger, that all civilized world?

Today it is my country. Tomorrow on Georgia's place will be the other country. The day after tomorrow will be only one big country - Russia. So Russia must be stopped today.

Thank you for your care and Love I love you too. Please ask for your friends to prey for my country.

I am afraid of future. I am afraid even of tomorrow. I think, they will change all my country again and I DON"T WANT to live again in communist country. I am human, educated human!

It is so simple. Why no one country or all of them together can't do anything? Or it is the big game and America just "lost" Georgia to Russia?

I am tired and have no desire to return back in the past. That was terrible. Georgians DESERVE the better future. I know, that you believe and wish us the better future.

But Russian tanks are everywhere, they divide Georgia into two parts. My father is in West Georgia and we are here. It is not normal. I'd like to hope, my son will live in better Georgia. Please, pray for us.

Oh of course. Russia is totally innocent. Meek, mild peaceful Russia. Yeah, that huge war machine that is Georgia...

Prayers go out for you and your family and for the free nation of Georgia. All the world needs to stand up, take notice and take action against this Russian aggression, especially Europe.

Yea. I agree. They should have sent some vodka and caviar to Mr. Saakashvili after they got reports that several dozens of their peacekeepers that were trying to prevent bloodshed between Georgians and S.Ossetians are killed by the Georgian army.

By the way, do any of you know that historically neither S. Ossetia nor Abhazia were ever a part of Georgia? Well, not until in the early 1930-ies Stalin (an ethnic Georgian) redrew the border and added these provinces to Georgia. It is a centuries old dispute and we have no business of getting into it.

Does anyone know if there has been much popular insurgency against the Russians? Sniping, sabotage, molotovs, etc?

In the Ossetian region I would guess not, but what about the other areas now under Russian control?

Well as far as I can see, “we” aren't in to it with the exception of humanitarian aid to this point.

Russia is not innocent in this mess, and they are not defending anyone except their own interests. They are bad actors now as in they have been in the past, Putin is a KGB thug and anyone that trusts them or anything Putin says is deluded.

Russian “peacekeepers” my a$$...

I have not heard anything about things like this.
The Georgian people are very civil.
But when push comes to shove, they will fight hard for their country and independence.

They need to give him some drugs. He is losing it.
I saw how Condi tried to shift and prepare herself when Misha was introduced. He is doing his country no favors now and then. He did ok on Larry King last night but not great.
He is really in need of help and I mean valium or something.

I think he was spot on. He told it just like it is, no punches pulled, no politico speak for a change, thought it was great.

It’s reading things like this that make me feel so lucky to have been born in American!

I hope that what Putin has tried to do is returned to him in spades. The path of destruction that has folllowed him that we have heard of makes me wonder just how bad what we don’t know about is!

A bit over emotional, though. I am glad you didn’t see him as losing it.

Oh this email is not from Irakli. Irakli is in Batumi.
This email is from a woman I met while in Georgia a few years ago.

It is not just a ‘hot spot’; it is a Democracy. . .and Russia cannot be allowed to turn the clock back against time and ‘enlightenment’ and erase and absorb a country that is a Democracy. War is not the only answer here; but Bush and those who support Freedom in our world had better be preparing initiatives of some import here. Freedom means everything. . .and those who have it are obligated to to whatever they must to protect a Democracy under attack. Or so goes the world to tyranny.
