In short, and I do not want to talk about politics:

1. Georgia hada:
NATO- armed
Israeli- trained
- Better equiped military
Yet they were crushed within 24 hrs by simmilar size Russian Army.

By the words of Saakashvilli himself.
“Russians poured 6,000 men and 150 pieces of armor”

Lets stop bull*hiting.
Russians used same quantity of troops agains georgians as Georgians hade. And they destroyed them.
NATO modeled Georgian army was crushed, without Pentagon knowing that Russians entered Georgia!

If I was US general, I would change something, something BIG.

Yes, that's true. It should had taken two weeks for the Russians to crush the Georgians instead of two days.

Really? How many Abrams did Georgia have? How many F-15s and F-16s did Georgia have?

So, if I understand you correctly, the valiant Russians, fighting against overwhelming odds, defeated the Georgian bullies.

You’re hilarious. Keep it up, I need the entertainment.

Air support makes all the difference in the world. The Russians had good air support and plenty of it, while the Georgian Air Force was mostly destroyed on the ground. As a result, any Georgian armor that attempted to move during the daytime was quickly pounded into scrap, while the Russian forces could rapidly move to trouble spots and counter any Georgian moves.

While the Russian Air Force did lose several aircraft to Georgian AAA and SAMs, these weapons were mostly obsolete in nature and were unable to cope with the modern jamming systems of the Russian fighter-bombers and ground-attack aircraft.

The Georgians didn't have the air support that the Russian troops had. Georgia's fighting Air Force consists of something like 8 Su-25 and a sprinkling of old Soviet attack helicopters. Any fighting force knows that air superiority is key. So you statement is somewhat misleading. It was not an equal fight.

Re: If I was US general, I would change something, something BIG.

You may have learned your English from “TV and Star Treks” but your knowledge of modern military tactics, current armed forces strengths and military history is sorely lacking.

Yes, a much larger, better equipped Russian force beat a much smaller, less equipped Georgian force. You take that as a sign of modern military strength. The Russians are still using the old standby of terror, rape and pillage when they have the advantage.

If you think that makes the Russian's world beaters, then wake up and think again. You are miles off the mark.

Today's Russian Military taking on America's in a land war would be akin to taking a pocketknife to compete in an artillery duel.

Time and time again since the close of WW2 Russian/Soviet arms, tactics and military training methods have been beaten on the battlefield by American and Israeli forces.

Doesn't that tell you something? If not, then go ahead and believe the Russian Bear is the biggest in the world.

Just don't bet your life on it if you wish to keep on breathing air!
