Musharraf to Leave Office By ZAHID HUSSAIN and PETER WONACOTT August 14, 2008 1:02 p.m.
ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf is expected to leave office in the next few days before Pakistan's Parliament takes up impeachment proceedings against him after the president's aides and officials of Pakistan's leading political party reached a breakthrough in secret talks designed to ease Mr. Musharraf's departure from office, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Great. They’ll replace one corrupt WOT obstructionist for another. That will be fun, too.
Not good.
With Iran, Russia and now Pakistan being in the news, my gut is telling me the shiite is going to be hitting the fan soon...
When an islamist rises to power in Pakistan and Obama is our President, and Putin goes totally nuts, then we will be in for a VERY rough ride (into doom).
It’s really too bad that this ill-fated nation couldn’t be reincorporated into India, from which it should never have been partitioned.
IMHO.
Well, not so H, actually.
Oh-oh, not good.
How long til Musharraf is living in the US?
one week.
Without a military dictator, Pakistan will become the Islamic Jihad.
Sounds like the islamofruitcakes are not happy with him even pretending to help us in our WOT.
The first principle of the Party is: Islam is our Faith. Islam teaches brotherhood, love and peace. Our Faith places a responsibility on each citizen to reach out in a spirit of accommodation and tolerance to all religions and sects and to treat people of all faiths with respect, enabling them to enjoy religious freedom and equality before the law.
The message of Islam is the message of Peace.
Don't worry, be happy!
Great. Who will they replace him with? Mullah Omar?
You’re probably not too far off...
How do we make sure that their nukes are secure before Musharraf goes? If we don't secure them their parliament will turn them over to the taliban. This is really shaping up as an historically crappy week!
“How do we make sure that their nukes are secure before Musharraf goes?”
Good question. This could be a more urgent problem than Georgia.
this doesn’t sound good
“Without a military dictator, Pakistan will become the Islamic Jihad.”
...with nukes
;-)
If he leaves, it’s no great loss in my book. He’s better than an Islamofascist, but he was vastly overrated as an ally.
