OTTAWA (AFP) - Air pollution this year will kill more than 20,000 Canadians, the Canadian Medical Association said Wednesday in a report.

The research on the human costs of pollution and pollution-related diseases estimated that around 21,000 people in Canada will die from breathing in toxic substances drifting in the air this year.

By 2031, short term exposure to air pollution will claim close to 90,000 lives in Canada, while long-term exposure will kill more than 700,000, the report said...

My research indicates the number of Canadians killed by air pollution is 560,000,897,000,321.

It’s true, folks are measuring contaminents in the air, go ahead and laugh about it. Where do you think that smog from China goes, we’re talking very dangerous heavy metals here.

Ridiculous! They should share a border with Mexico, then they would know what real pollution is.

“...with or without ‘help’ from the Canadian ‘free’ health care?”

Maybe the Canadian Medical Association can issue an addendum to the report detailing the number of deaths this year will be due to bureaucratic delays in treatment or just plain incompetence in that cluster[XXXX] they style as healthcare.

...just to give us Yanks a preview of what’s in store down here.

There is absolutely no way to prove such statements; the fact that they have the imprimatur of a major health agency only serves to illustrate the degree that such distortions of science have deteriorated.

The overall mortality rate is still falling in all of North America and the air is measurably cleaner than it has ever been yet these doomsayers are never satisfied and will not be even if the air could be made pure as laboratory gas.

This all stems from the ridiculous notion that there is such a thing as premature death which would require a setpoint for timely death; something too far for government’s reach short of intervention on the wrong end of the scale.

The report in question here is obviously being made public as a prelude to voiced calls for more industrial controls of U.S. facilities as a focus of blame.

Such a spectacle - science sluts in short skirts sashaying down the street in search of spare change.

There is an automatic tendency to accept that as ‘common sense’ yet there is not a shred of documented evidence outside of heavily polluted work environments and extreme weather-related events leading to trapped recycled air.

If you were confined to a room where the air was maintained at 21% oxygen but had a system to remove all CO2 even as you breathed about in it, your respiration rate would go haywire; ill effects suspected to be causes of disease from air pollution are nearly impossible to indict and are assumed to be from long-term exposure.

Investigators are supposed to interrogate the evidence, not torture it.

Where is Mike Phelps hiding his air tank?

I wouldn't worry, immigration from Mooselimb countries will more than make up for for the people lost to pollution.

“Where is Mike Phelps hiding his air tank?”

Everybody there is breathing the same air. Wouldn’t be surprised if he has an air purifier in his room. I would.

Air “purifiers” can’t remove sub-micron particulate matter; despite the cries for abatement, there is a practical limit on controls.

There is a growing focus on these smallest particles and their ability to be breathed deeply into the lungs where they remain and collect, yet current removal technology has not caught up with detection methodolgy.

They are claiming that about 10% of the total number of deaths in Canada are directly traceable to pollution.

The report is clearly junk science.

Wait until this winter when all of those miracle, outdoor, wood burning, stoves are all stoked up this winter in an effort to cut greenhouse gasses. Imagine the particulates in the air....
