Visits by McCain, Obama to Orange County church underscore Pastor Rick Warren's prominence
LA Slimes ^ | August.13, 2008 | Duke Helfand

When John McCain and Barack Obama appear on the same stage Saturday at the sprawling religious campus of Orange County's Saddleback Church, their presence will vividly underline the reach that has made Pastor Rick Warren among the most significant evangelists of his generation.

~snip~

But Warren's willingness to soft-pedal political issues once central to U.S. evangelicals, such as opposition to abortion, has opened him to criticism that he has strayed from his calling to spread the Gospel.

It's likely that both fans and critics will be watching closely when Warren plays host to the two presidential contenders at his church complex in Lake Forest, home to 22,000 weekend worshipers.

~snip~

The presumptive Democratic and Republican nominees won't debate during the Civil Forum on the Presidency. But they will make a brief joint appearance, their first of the campaign, and Warren will interview each separately about the Constitution, poverty, AIDS, human rights and other subjects.

~snip~

"America has a choice. It's not between a stud and a dud this year," Warren said. "Both of these men care about America. My job is to let them share their views."

No studs or duds.

Just a moderate mavarick and a Marxist.

Perhaps someone can explain something to this ignorant sinner . If you are pro abortion , even in favor of what seems like infanticide , is there any reason to go to church except to confess , repent , and mend your ways .

Warren is a BINO... Baptist in name only. He mixes man’s wisdom with God’s, and was rejected by the fundamental Church.

This is a trap being laid for McCain. There are sponsors who represent gay and leftist Christian groups. McCain is between a rock and a hard place here. If he doesn’t go he’s seen as frightened or people will question his cred with conservative Christians. When he goes he’s going to be told Christians need to be more than concerned with “wedge issues.” There goes any fodder his has to lay into Barry on his pro-abort agenda. Meanwhile, Obama wins just by showing up.

Yes, to campaign...if you're a Democrat, where pro-abortion and infanticide are laundered to the term "choice".

Seriously, I can't think of any other reason, given those "attributes".

If I were Rick Warren, and I ain't, I wouldn't even allow a guy who believes in infanticide on my stage. But then again, ol' Rick Warren seems to have a gospel all to himself.

"Hey Baal, hows about you and me sharing bread?"

The first phrase was unnecessary, and indicative of Warren's true feelings.

"My job is to let them share their views". Rick, that has NEVER been your job or the job of the church.

You need a new purpose in life.

PING!
2 Timothy 3:1
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:

2 Timothy 3:2
For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

2 Timothy 3:3
unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,

2 Timothy 3:4
traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

2 Timothy 3:5
having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

2 Timothy 3:6
For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts,

2 Timothy 3:7
always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2 Timothy 3:8
Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith;

2 Timothy 3:9
but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

2 Timothy 3:10
But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance,

2 Timothy 3:11
persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.

2 Timothy 3:12
Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

2 Timothy 3:13
But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

2 Timothy 3:14
But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,

2 Timothy 3:15
and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

2 Timothy 3:17
that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 4:1
I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:

2 Timothy 4:2
Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

2 Timothy 4:4
and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

2 Timothy 4:5
But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
(NKJV)

Rick Warren is advocating works without Salvation, let alone before it.

Here is a video of an interview of Rick Warren and wife on July 13 on a local TV show called, “Inside OC.”
