Barack Obama isn't just relying on urban Democratic strongholds to win Ohio in November.

Obama's campaign released a document Tuesday outlining a strategy to organize extensively in rural areas throughout the key battleground state. Some of those areas have long been strongholds for Republican candidates.

Better watch out, I hear they cling to their guns and Bibles around those areas.

Won’t these rural Ohio voters just be bitter white people clinging to the religion and guns?

Saw a poll the other day that showed McCain running as well as Bush did in Northwestern Ohio. That was definitely an encouraging sign.

My guess is he does even better than Bush did in Southern Ohio, and worse than Bush did in the Cleveland area.

Should be another very close race, but I like McCain's chances.

Will the UK’s Guardian newspaper have their readers calling Ohioans for Obama like they did for Kerry in 2004? That worked out pretty well, as I recall...

Obama's problem is SE Ohio; he will almost certainly underperform Kerry and Gore in the Applachian counties. He will do better than both in Cleveland, Dayton, and Columbus, and about the same in Toledo. The rest of the state will vote like 2004.

Net result? Like 2004 overall, perhaps a bit more favorable for McCain. If nothing else affects the race.

Ironically, Hillary would have beaten McCain here, I'm almost sure. The Lefties screwed themselves.

I am one of those rural bitter white Ohio voters who is clinging to my religion and my guns just like my neighbors in Pennsylvania.

And obama can count on me to cast my vote for McCain

So here is the bottom line in this story. There are not enough votes in the urban areas, (and there should be) so he has to go and take it to the “Clingers”. This guy is in deep doo-doo. He is starting to rearrange the deck chairs folks!

Story below this one says he is going after undecideds aggressively in MN and story above says he is going to open 10 more offices in Iowa.

The “presumptive” became presumptuous and is starting to sink like a rock.

This whole war in Georgia will reawaken all of the 40 and above crowd to Cold War era and they will overwhelmingly join the McCain camp as they realize that you actually need an adult in the WH. After this week and Barry hiding out in Hawaii and McCain taking on the BIG issues of the day, watch the polls to shift significantly.

One big difference is Ted Strickland is Governor and *could* help Boma BUT he is still ticked the way Hillary was treated and is only luke warm (Not fired up and ready to do). Meanwhile Columbus Mayor Coleman, Bama’s supposed director, is so unpopular that there is no way McCain will do worse than W in 00 or 04

HA! We live in a blue OH county (thanks to Akron) and my husband took an Obama call the other day so he must be worried about us not-so-rural Ohioans as well. One of my very most favorite things is listening to my husband tie these folks up in knots. By the end of the 15 min exchange (if you can call it that - he dominated pretty much the entire time) he had the poor girl on the other line admitting that Obama has no real record of accomplishment, that what he says he WANTS to do is nothing more than socialism, and does she really want the govt telling us how we can spend our money and educate our kids? What fun, even if I mostly only hear one side of things.
