Whatever tensions and hostilities might have existed between Georgians and Ossetians, they in no way justify Moscow's path of violent aggression. Russian actions, in clear violation of international law, have no place in 21st century Europe.

This is Pravda’s point of view. There is an old saying that Pravda nye Isvestia and Isvestia nye Pravda. Nothing much as changed in Moscow, it seems.

obama’s apparently still on vacation. Does he even have any response?
He’s the typical ‘fair weather politician’.
“....Commentator Dragan Petrovic told Tanjug news agency that the United States had encouraged a conflict between Russia and Georgia to strengthen its influence in the region.///”
BS! The US and the EU have warned Georgia for months NOT to take military action.
Then you are aware that countries like Turkey and Iraq and Iran lie between the carriers and Georgia? And that the Montreux Convention would prevent us from sending a carrier into the Black Sea?
Let’s send Obama to talk to Putin...
That should fix it.
Total nonsense. Georgia has armed in the hopes of defending itself against Russian aggression.
Does this Stalinist author really imagine that the small Republic of Georgia intended to conquer Russia? I think not.
This article makes about as much sense as the perpetual Russian argument, now repeated by Putin, that putting anti-ballistic missiles in Poland is a direct threat to Russia.
Horse manure. Russia is the bully here. They delight in showing their “strength” by invading their smaller neighbors. We have had a few decades’ respite from that sort of nasty behavior, but here they go again.
You’re kidding! His campaign actually said that?
(Whatever tensions and hostilities might have existed between Georgians and Ossetians, they in no way justify Moscow’s path of violent aggression. Russian actions, in clear violation of international law, have no place in 21st century Europe.)
WELL. I guess he told them!!
I’m sure the Russina tanks have already turned around...
It is the ideal time to strike Iran. The world’s playing games in China, so China can’t react. Russia’s busy invading their neighbor.
And Iran is busy trying to kill Americans.
All we need is one sign of Quds activity and whack! Not only do we get to knock out nukes, but we also get to blame them for attacking us first.
I still remember McCain getting on the Imus show and giving numerous logical reasons why we shouldn’t get involved in the Balkans
And then supporting Clinton’s actions in the senate
Who knows what he believes
Yeah, send Obama with Carter and Madeleine Albright to reason with KGB man Putin. Obama still has training wheels, Carter is a lunatic, and Albright is half bright.
Russia is still a constant threat to Europe, and its supply of oil and gas is a major weapon in the new cold war.
The former Soviet republics should build up their military and nuclear electric power, as should Germany.
U.S. troops should not get involved, but we can support these countries in other ways, and work on economic punishment of Russia.
McCain is the man to handle this situation.
