For decades, corrections officials assigned inmates of the same race to bunk together to keep the peace among race-based prison gangs. That's about to change as the prison system prepares to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that effectively deemed the practice unconstitutional.
A group of white inmates gathers around a bunk bed in a packed prison dormitory at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, north of Los Angeles. The dorm is integrated. But each double bunk bed is its own racially segregated island.
Steve Cecala, 38, is serving time for drug possession. He says he has no problem with blacks or Hispanics, but he knows the consequences of bunking with them.
"If some guys up there at Level Three or Level Four found out that you bunked up with another, I mean, who knows?" he says. "You could get stabbed up.

So the U.S. Supreme Court DOES support the death penalty for “lesser” crimes; they just lack the cajones to come right out and admit it.

Maybe this will reduce the nuber of repeat offenders. You can vote after you are dead but not commit more crime.

Liberals have been whining that there are too many people in prisons.
This should address that concern.
Just add legalized murder of prisoners to assisted suicide, open borders, legitimizing homosexuals and allow the further spread of HIV, and abortion.
LOL, and the only 'integrated' cells will be the alpha male and his bitch.
Under the circumstances I don't think solitary confinement is punishment. I think if I were in this prison that's what I'd want, if only for my protection.

The first 200 names in the Boston phone book would never have come up with such an addled-brained policy.
All they have to do is commit some “interracial violence” and they’ll be off the “eligible” list...
It’ll be an easy choice for some of them.
How could these guys even be rehabilitated and integrated back into society? Who would hire them? They literally have “loser” written all over them.
Does that include their outside rec time.
Just watching the reality programs of prison life shows all clustered together by race, gang-affiliation, etc. to plot, do hits, etc., etc..
