He is the president, call a news conference, pound on it day in and day out. Make it an issue that has to be covered by calling congress back, but don't come out with a statement saying that "it will do no good" (which the White House did when the idea of calling congress back was first raised). No statement would have been better than that statement. That statement is really what set me off on this issue. If we are going to fight, lets use all our weapons.
I have called my Congressman’s 2 local offices and his D.C. office to vent my anger. How dare he go off on vacation and ignore the people’s business. Have you?
I emailed my congressman (a Rat) twice, NO REPLY. As to emailing, I have done more emailing in the last 2 weeks on this issue then I have in the past 2 years on everything else.
Some Senators are so egotistical they think they can roll anyone, well Rush did not roll.

It’s estimated that ANWR holds 10.6 billion barrels of oil. In 13 years, Congress has voted 17 times on access to this oil, every attempt failing. But the record is clear, on average, 91% of Republicans voted for development of oil from ANWR, 86 percent of Democrats against it.
That would be encouraging.

I called my congresscritter, and the poor aide that answered the phone got quite an earful (politely).
I know what my e-mail inbox looks like! I’d say your chances of getting a reply are between slim and none.
Call these Congressmen—that’s what I did. Now I’m getting ready to call the Democrats who aren’t in my District—like Murtha.
