The stench of 'trash' comes from John Edwards, not National Enquirer
New York Daily News ^ | August 10, 2008 | Michael Daly

Saturday morning, I went right out to the supermarket to buy the National Enquirer to see what else might be true.

And there it was, right by the cash register, with a headline across the top of the cover promising the latest details of a story the Enquirer broke months ago.

John Edwards had initially dismissed the Enquirer's allegations of an extramarital affair as "tabloid trash." A saw mill worker's son who was himself once dismissed as "poor white trash," he should have been more cautious about underestimating those who are dismissed out of hand as inferiors.

Whatever you might think of the Enquirer's news judgment and the particular stories it pursues, its reporters do not simply embroider smarmy tips into sensationalistic fabrications.

The Enquirer reporters actually do report. John Edwards learned that when he sought to slip into the Beverly Hilton Hotel to see his paramour and found himself cornered in the men's room.

By then, Edwards had dropped out of the presidential race and the major papers were able to tell themselves that this was really a private matter, the purview of tabloid trash, not worthy of real journalists.

But, the story did not go away and the Democratic National Convention was approaching ...

On Friday, Edwards admitted the affair. He seemed to imagine he was helping himself by saying he did not love the woman.

Yesterday, the story was splashed on the front page of all the major newspapers, suddenly deemed worthy of inquiring minds.

But, enquiring minds had been reading about the affair for weeks and yesterday the Edwards story only occupied the top of the cover. The big story was:

I would not let any of my daughters (I have 3) wear that skirt in public, much less let her wear it for a family photo, ESPECIALLY on that was going to be consumed and distributed by the media! Can you imagine? Father of the Year indeed...

There was a time, not so very long ago, when this sort of behavior would have prompted the perpetrator take his revolver and to drive, alone, out to a desolate part of coastline and ‘do the last remaining honorable thing’.

Nowadays it’s a matter of getting your PR firm to engineer the proper spin for the Press.

This is so awful that nobody can spin him out of it and so he apparently doesn’t know what to do.

What did the media know and when did they know it? How long did the media cover up for their darling John Edwards?

She’s wearing a SKIRT? :/

(I sew my daughters’ dresses and skirts, since we have trouble finding modest, below-the-knee lengths.)

Latest development:

John Edwards thought he was so special, that he was really Jonathan Edwards, the sham cold-reader ‘talker with the dead’.

“I actually thought my wife was actually dead, and that she was speaking with me from the dead for the last year and a half,” Edwards commented. “As Jonathan Edwards, I see and talk to dead people all the time. I thought she was just ‘there’ with me trying to support me from beyond the grave. I would never have had an affair if I thought Elizabeth was alive.”

When asked how he could have mistaken his wife for a ghost, Edwards explained, “Yeah, there were some things that didn’t make a lot of sense to me, that I wasn’t sure about. I mean, why would a ghost say she was going to chemotherapy, or keep telling me that ‘after she was dead’ - and I’m thinking, ‘You’re already dead, why are you saying that?’ So yeah, that was pretty strange.”

“he did not love the woman”?
NO, he wanted to bed the whore.
What is wrong with these politicians? Is this whore the best Edwards can come up with to have a sexual affair? Is his wife that bad in bed? Maybe a real cold fish?

How about a real babe? One that doesn’t look like trailer trash? I gotta believe Mrs. Edwards would have felt better about it had the woman been as good looking as say Spitzers at least.
And while we’re at it here, how about Bill Clintons taste in females? Ya think Hillary felt like hell that Bill wanted that fat ugly whore instead of her?

These kind of women know just how to feed the egos of these hotshots - and they are just plain enough that the cheaters think they will be discrete - they never consider the girl’s mental state to begin with.
