CLARK LAKE As a lifelong Republican and former Republican prosecuting attorney, I am very disappointed in John McCain.
In 2000, I voted for John McCain for president because he was an independent, nonpartisan Republican.
I could not then tolerate George Bush because he clearly lacked the judgment and wisdom to be a president who could be respected around the world. Time has proven this to be true, to our national disgrace.
By authorizing his staff to run television ads trying to link Sen. Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton smacks of desperation. We do not need another desperate president like George Bush who was desperate to get us into Iraq just so he could be re-elected in 2004.
If John McCain reverses field to tell us why we should elect him, I will reconsider. But cheap political stunts like linking irresponsible Hollywood personalities to a candidate for president will not gain the support of serious voters.
The last time a Republican candidate for president tried to claim that a Democratic opponent was lacking in experience was in the Nixon/Kennedy race. Nixon claimed Kennedy was too Catholic and too young. But once in office, Kennedy prove to be a smart president who saved us from a nuclear confrontation with the Soviets over Cuba and made sure that the Berlin airlift stopped the Soviet effort to crush West Berlin.
As a lifelong independent Republican voter and officeholder, I can only hope that John McCain will abandon the advice of the negative Republican attack machine and tell us why he is most qualified to be our president.
Dennis Hurst
So far McCain has clearly not "gone negative". Besides, see how he smiles at the end when he says "I approve this ad". Guy likes the hootchie kootchie gals Fur Sure, and certainly isn't going to run around on hot days in a black suit haranguing crowds.
“HMMMM how did he ever vote for McCain for President when he never made it throguh the primary process? I call BS too!”
Uh, yes, in fact McCain carried Michigan.
http://archives.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/02/22/michigan.voters/
Feb 23, 2000: “Michigan voters may have handed Arizona Sen. John McCain a victory in Tuesday’s GOP primary, but CNN exit polls indicate that the majority of those who went to the polls were not Republicans, whose support the maverick senator will ultimately need if he wishes to remain viable in the November election.”
No! He's a partisan, non-Republican independent maverick! Whatever he is, he's definitely not conservative.
Line by line, the article is full of nonsense. However there was this nugget that I agree with:
“By authorizing his staff to run television ads trying to link Sen. Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton smacks of desperation.”
These and the other vapid attack ads only enhance the disjointedness and intellectual emptiness of the McCain camp. I’d reccommend a consistent philosophy of small govt conservatism but he’s shucked that off quite awhile ago. See how being a “maverick” aint such a hot idea?
“McCain does not deserve vote if he stays negative (barf alert)”
More from the “why doesn’t he just quietly lose like that nice Bob Dole” crowd.
AIN’T NO WAY!!! The writer of this story is a democrat thru and thru. Don’t believe him for one minute. There will be more and more of this time come, so read between the lines of these wolves in sheeps clothing, they are DEMOCRATS afraid of the landslide to come against them in the fall elections- democrats losing across the country.
1-Their in-fighting is increasing, so they are afraid of implosion.
2-The best representative they could muster for their party can’t deliver a speech without a teleprompter.
3-Their best representative may not even be a US citizen (still to be determined)
4-The strength McCain is gaining is scary to them.
5-Their candidate doesn’t have any qualifications to be president of the US (does 127 days in the house qualify??)
6-The democrats won’t allow a vote to drill for oil. THAT ONE REALLY TICKS ME OFF....I don’t want to lose anything (my house, my life savings, my independence, etc., because the democrats want the US to be dependent on the ARABS or any other country that can sell us oil to heat our houses, run our cars, and keep the price of food in line. YES have you noticed how much our food is going up because of the DEMOCRATS INCREASING THE PRICE OF OUR GAS.
I know that some of you don’t like to read long drawn out missives...
so here’s the executive summary.........
John McCain
Congress - 26 years
Military - 22 years
Barack Obama
Congress - 143 days
Military - 0
Summary Concluded.
...this guy is a lawyer?
What’s wrong with this statement: “a non partisan Republican”?
“non partisan” = no political agenda/party
“Republican” = a type of political party with an identifiable agenda.
It’s okay though - I used to be a liberal...until my Representative (John Foghorn) voted AGAINST HB 12783 - the House resolution to start using yellow paper instead of white. Obviously Representative Foghorn wants people like me to suffer from eyestrain.
That day I became a born again Christian, bought a gun, bought a pick up truck, threw out all my wife’s shoes and socks and birth control, knocked out all my front teeth and moved to the deep south. I’ll never vote liberal again...
(/sarcasm)
In 2000 this guy was still a democrat.. that couldn't stomach Kerry.. and was dumb enough to think McLaim was smarter than George Bush.. Duuugh.. The truth is Kerry, Mclaim and George Bush are no smarter than a democrat..
Worse George Bush looks like Alfred E. Nueman.. and was indeed a "Unite'er and not a Divide'er".. Uniting of course with the democrats.. like John McLaim..
This guy is a stone democrat.. ex-democrat or RINO.. the difference being miniscule..
“Republican prosecuting attorney”
NEED I SAY ANYTHING MORE?
Dennis is sort of a - as the French say - ball de la goof.
Hurst,you’re a schmuck.
Good one.
Former? Looks like he is still prosecuting Republicans.
Heck Obama and Hillary were extremely negative in the primaries - what else was McCain going to expect?
The reason Obama is stuck behind the 8-ball is because he needs the votes of white guys - so desperately he is afraid to say “boo” to McCain. But that is not McCain's fault, to hell with Obama The Lib.
I went no further. Hurst is a liar.
This article is really chock full of bull. LOL
and there is the rub for this guy and what motivates him
“The reason the Soviets challanged us was because Kennedy was so weak. The Soviets never feared Kennedy and they didnt back down because of Kennedy.”
It was Kennedy who backed-out of a mission to provide air support to Cubans in their attempt to overthrow Castro. I will not dispute Kennedy’s decision to abort the mission. What I am outraged about however, is the fact that no one notified the Cubans of the aborted mission, and while waiting for “U.S. Air Support” the Cubans were slaughtered.
BTW, need a president who could be respected around the world?
Then why doesn't this clown campaign for Che Guevara or Osama bin Laden?
Wot?
He's for Obama?
Surprise.
