I’m curious what the French Navy was doing in the exercise. Did they need someone to act as casualties?
Hmmm....seems to me it’s no coincidence that Russia is attacking Georgia while we are on the verge of war with Iran. We’re good...but we can’t fight four wars at the same time.

Russia didn’t want a strike on Iran.
We should show them their leverage on Iran is directly affected by their appropriation of Georgia Territory.
Time to destroy everything and if a few Russians get killed during the attack, too bad.
Is there any chance there is another objective behind, and the real objective is to suddenly turn directions towards Black Sea to threat the Russian force blockade against Georgia?

The only thing that makes me doubt this report is the inclusion of French naval assets deploying to the Gulf. Come on! I’m not buying it.

The USS Iwo Jima and USS Peleliu Expeditionary Strike Groups have USMC Harrier jump jets and an assortment of assault and attack helicopters. The Expeditionary Strike Groups have powerful USMC Expeditionary Units with amphibious armor and ground forces trained for operating in shallow waters and in seizures of land assets, such as Qeshm Island (a 50 mile long island off of Bandar Abbas in the Gulf of Hormuz and headquarters of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps).
