Massive US Naval Armada Heads For Iran
Live Leak ^ | August 8, 2008 | Timothy Alexander

Posted on 08/10/2008 6:47:22 AM PDT by Fennie

Operation Brimstone ended only one week ago. This was the joint US/UK/French naval war games in the Atlantic Ocean preparing for a naval blockade of Iran and the likely resulting war in the Persian Gulf area. The massive war games included a US Navy supercarrier battle group, an US Navy expeditionary carrier battle group, a Royal Navy carrier battle group, a French nuclear hunter-killer submarine plus a large number of US Navy cruisers, destroyers and frigates playing the "enemy force".

The lead American ship in these war games, the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN71) and its Carrier Strike Group Two (CCSG-2) are now headed towards Iran along with the USS Ronald Reagon (CVN76) and its Carrier Strike Group Seven (CCSG-7) coming from Japan.

They are joining two existing USN battle groups in the Gulf area: the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN72) with its Carrier Strike Group Nine (CCSG-9); and the USS Peleliu (LHA-5) with its expeditionary strike group.

Likely also under way towards the Persian Gulf is the USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7) and its expeditionary strike group, the UK Royal Navy HMS Ark Royal (R07) carrier battle group, assorted French naval assets including the nuclear hunter-killer submarine Amethyste and French Naval Rafale fighter jets on-board the USS Theodore Roosevelt. These ships took part in the just completed Operation Brimstone...

Is that close enough to Georgia to provide air support?

All those ships had lousy security. If I were the CO on ANY of these ships I would be transmitting on international distress frequencies every minute that if you come close to a US warship you will be turned into a grease spot. Court Martial me when it is done but I will not lose any crew to inflatable of harbor boats. The Cole didn't even have a proper deck watch set and Pentagon policy at the time allowed for challenging boats. Remember the Vincense? That could just as easily been an Iranian attack on the ship. US loses ZERO!

I’m curious what the French Navy was doing in the exercise. Did they need someone to act as casualties?

I heard from Cold War-era Army folks that the French were always attached to the U.S. in these joint exercises with the Brits acting as OPFOR. Supposedly we always got the French as a handicap. No idea if it's the same way with the French Navy, but it wouldn't surprise me!

IMO we've had to agree to allow Putin to do his thing in Georgia in return for the US to deal with Iran.

while that may be true, I do not like leaving an ally in our fights in the middle east hanging out to dry.

Russia didn’t want a strike on Iran.

We should show them their leverage on Iran is directly affected by their appropriation of Georgia Territory.

Time to destroy everything and if a few Russians get killed during the attack, too bad.

That happened under a uber liberal President, el bubba Clintoon.

Our sailors didn’t have shells in their guns and were under strict no fire orders.

That won’t happen again unless Obamo the Oreo is elected to teach Americans a lesson.

Na... Turkey is right next to Georgia. Incirlik Air Base. And they know it.

You had best wake up and drink some really strong coffe.

Russia is invading Georgia to clear the logistical chain to Iran, in order to facilitate the supply chain to its new ally, Iran.

At that time Russia will declare that an attack on Irn is an attack on Russia itself.

Look at the maps. - Think.

Is there any chance there is another objective behind, and the real objective is to suddenly turn directions towards Black Sea to threat the Russian force blockade against Georgia?

Perhaps we need their expertise at raising white flags.

Agreed, I hope we didn’t sell out a trusted partner in the WoT. Georgia has stood with us.

it only says where they “might” be going - not where they are.

I’m sure we planted the story so the Iranians could engage in more F.U.D.

Wonder if the Air Force is on the move to the area? A few b2 bombers might accidently drop a few eggs in Iran. Whups sorry about that...I sure hope we blast those mad mullahs and insane imams.
