PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd witnessed a heated discussion between US President George W. Bush and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, over Russia's invasion of a tiny neighbouring country as athletes paraded before them in the Opening Ceremony on Friday night.
Mr Rudd revealed in an interview with Beijing Now in Beijing on Saturday that he was sitting just two rows behind Mr Bush when an "animated" discussion between he and Mr Putin broke out over Russia's advance into South Ossetia, a breakaway region in neighbouring Georgia.

“When I look into Putin’s eyes, I see the KGB” - Sen John McCain.
Where all the Raptors gone? Long time passing......
Whereas Obama would say, “I, for one welcome our new Russian overlords.”
When I look into Putins eyes, I see the KGB - Sen John McCain
Just another reason to vote for McCain. Who can only guess what Obambi sees.
Ya think GWB has finally figured out that “nice guys finish last”?
Georgia should blow up the Roki Tunnel and cut off the Russians in Georgia. Starve them out.
Pass out the popcorn and the iodine tablets.
As concerned as I am about John McCain being president...
I am more afraid of losing our country completely.
The more I investigate the alternative, the more I look at the world around us right now, the more I know I’m gonna have to pull for John McCain.
And now, Russia is blaming the US for their attack on Georgia.
McCain our only chance.
I think that they should do more of this.
Instead of public meetings, with all the pomp, and decorum, and the tons of eyes, and ears, and instantaneous delivery to the internet, they met at a noisy girl’s BBALL game.
Pretty smart.
A chance to really ‘talk’.
“When I look into Putins eyes, I see the KGB - Sen John McCain
Just another reason to vote for McCain. Who can only guess what Obambi sees.”
I can try.
Obambi sees an opportunity for CHANGE: from Black Liberation Theology to good old Marxist-Leninist line.
Oops, sorry. That’s one and the same, isn’t it?
Well said and welcome to Free Republic.
Did he really say that? Could you show me where?
Thanks
The comments after the article are fascinating with regard to what is thought of the Prime Minister. Sounds like a bit of buyer’s remorse.
The only thing I want is for America to get back to some resemblance of what the Founders intended. That includes true Liberty, States rights and a God-Centered society (and government for that matter).
This thing in Russia better wake some folks up...
Thank you for the welcome. Glad to be a part of such a strong, meaningful movement.
Gordon
It's already too late, the Russian 76th Airborne Division has been staging in North Ossetia since July 11th. They are now inserted into South Ossetia via parachute deployment. The 76th Airborne Division is the same unit that took the Pristina airport and the unit that Wesley Clark ordered attacked, God Bless the British for refusing the orders.
All Airborne Divisions will be annihilated if they can’t be resupplied. Dien Bien Phu? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Dien_Bien_Phu
No one fights a war unless they think they can win. So I wouldn’t count Georgia out yet. Furthermore I’m getting sick of all the whinning about Bush not doing anything, and that McCain isn’t good enough. NO ONE is PERFECT! NO PERSON IN AUTHORITY CAN EVER PLEASE EVRYBODY! Personaly I would like 90% of all government jobs eliminated! 90% percent of all laws eliminated! Capital punishment for the mere mention of passing any socialist law! And the U.S. to demand and receive reparations from the rest of the world for either saving their tails or standing up to their thugery! Guess what it’s not going to happen! So vote for the people and laws that are closest to LIBERTY. Convince as many people as possible to vote for LIBERTY, and for those who won’t - LET THEM KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THEM!!!
Hopefully it will wake some people up. Obama has shown what a pitiful excuse he’d be as the CIC should he be elected and this thing in Georgia won’t be the last time this happens.
The well being of our country hangs in the balance of this upcoming election, IMO.
