WASHINGTON (AP) - The ex-mistress of former presidential candidate John Edwards says she will not participate in DNA testing to establish the paternity of her daughter.
Rielle Hunter's lawyer, Robert Gordon, says his client is a private individual who wishes to maintain the privacy of herself and her daughter.
In a statement, Gordon says that Hunter is ruling out any kind of testing that could establish who the daughter's father is.

Perhaps in exchange for continued monetary support?
If she refuses, isn’t Edwards technically off the hook?
She doesn’t need to do a DNA test. She knows the father is Edwards. He paid her off and he’ll keep visiting the baby. As long as she keeps her mouth shut the more perks and hush money she gets.
That’s really telling. However, Edwards could legally force her to take the paternity test if she alleging that the baby is his.
Support for what? She can only receive $12k as a gift per year from Edwards without paying taxes on it.
Is he going to continue to “employ” her? What a mess.
We all know the father is Edwards. I’m sure that’s why somebody tipped off the National Enquirer. The photos and the visit tell the truth, not the LIAR’S Guy Smiley routine when he admitted a portion of his filthy life.
But, since she is doing the opposite, he can say he's willing to do a paternity test, all the while knowing the fix is in and she'll refuse as long as he supports her.
Interestingly, it seems she's being supported by his political associates, which makes her a campaign expense.
I think it’s more likely she knows he might not be the father and has decided not to gamble. Her reputation was terrible long before she ever heard of John Edwards, and nothing tells me she’s changed.
If Edwards or someone else gives her money under the table, who is going to know how much it is? She’s not likely to declare it on her income tax return.
Besides, it has already been brought out that a campaign aide has been sending her money for some time.
Edwards is a lawyer, for gosh sake. I’m sure he knows many ways to funnel money to her without anyone knowing about it.
“all the while knowing the fix is in”
This is exactly what I thought. Edwards comes out and says he will take a paternity test anywhere, anytime. Makes him look like he is confident he is not the father. All the while, it has already been discussed that he will do this, and she will deny a paternity test.
I wonder if this was the topic of conversation in the hotel room among other activites. And what the hell is he doing in her room a few weeks ago when he said the thing was over. That’s a rhetorical question, lol!
Bingo! I predicted exactly this to my wife.
Wouldn’t be a hoot if it were Mrs Edwards who dimed him out. It would serve the sob right.
Two ways to look at her refusal to get DNA tested:
1. She KNOWS Edwards is the daddy, and refusing to get DNA gives him “plausible deniability” of paternity.
2. She FEARS Edwards may not be the daddy, but wishes to keep the money coming from the deep pockets sugar daddy Edwards.
15K a month buys certain people’s silence.
Betting someone already “collected” DNA at the hotel room in July........just to be on the safe side.
Are you kidding me? You don’t think people like Edwards knows how to funnel money to someone? Please.
I have no idea why you are referencing John Edwards in a thread that has nothing to do with him. Are you following me?
I am talking about US stockholders; this thread has nothing to do with the liar known as John Edwards.
Whoops, wrong response to the wrong person.
