No, because our great President, William Jefferson Clinton, made Ukraine give them up.

It is safer to take another finger off the button if you have the ability and then extend the nuclear umbrella that you control over them. Russia and China haven't gamed that theory yet, ie. North Korea, Syria, Iran.

As they should. The Ukies would be insane not to. If the Russian freight train plows through Georgia, where do you think the next stop will be?

The Ukraine returned all the Soviet nukes back to Russia shortly after the Soviet Union’s fall.

Back in 2004 he visited Ukraine and publically endorsed President Kushmas’s man, Yanacovich (sp).

Kinda like Obama flying to Kenya and endorsing Raila Odinga in their elections.

What do average Russians think?

That what they think matters little, and they should keep their head down, lest they lose it.

If the Russians go into Ukraine...one of two things could happen...a)NATO does nothing and we basically lose Eastern Europe to fear of the Russians. (I didn’t think this before all this, but the SITREP now...) or b) NATO decides enough is enough and we slide down a slope heading to the Third World War (and in that case Freepers, I’d find a decent hole to hide in).

I do hope that this can be stopped before it spirals into a regional war.
PS no it is spirals into a WW3

Regarding the Ukrainians: They’re tough people (and my ancestors from one side of the family came from there). They’ve had 1000 years of the Russian bear (in one form or another) stepping on them; I’m not so sure that they’re ready to go back to that again.

My advice to the Georgian and Ukrainian citizens: Grab your perfect Democratic (”equalizer”) weapons, the AK47, AK74, AKM, AKS, RPK, etc., etc., fade into the hills, and start sniping Boris and Ivan every chance you get. Take his weapons and distribute them to others.

Officers first, NCOs next, then Private Boris...send them back to Moscow and Mom as Heros of the (former) Soviet Union.

Then disappear before the Hinds and Havocs come.

He who fights and melts away, lives to fight Ivan another day...
