LIFE OF PARTY IN NY BEFORE SHE WENT BEDWARDS [Rielle Hunter]
New York Post ^ | August 9, 2008 | Paula Froelich and Patrick Gallahue

GOOD-TIME GIRL: Rielle Hunter, the woman John Edwards fooled around with, was into drugs and nightclubs.

The flaky filmmaker for whom John Edwards risked his political future and his family is a former "party girl" who went from narcotics to nirvana.

Rielle Hunter's résumé also includes actress, producer, New Age blogger - and now, home wrecker.

A Florida native, the 44-year-old divorcée grew up in a well-to-do household but is now deep in debt, a source told The Post.

Hunter, born Lisa Druck, first turned up in New York in the 1980s, where she hooked up with novelist Jay McInerney.

"She used to be a real party girl," he told Page Six. "When she wasn't out at nightclubs, she was taking acting classes.

"We dated for only a few months, but in that period I spent a lot of time with her and her friends, whose behavior intrigued and appalled me to such an extent that I ended up basing a novel on the experience." It was called "Story of My Life."

In 2005 she caught the eye of her soon-to-be politico paramour at the Regency Hotel bar. She was out with a group, drinking "like an old cougar fool," a source said. "She's an idiot, a fool, a moron, a faux guru, but not mean-spirited."

A year later, Edwards' political action committee paid $100,000 in a four-month period to a newly formed company run by Hunter, although she had virtually no experience making campaign films, ABC News reported. Hunter directed production of four Web videos showing the presidential wannabe in supposedly candid moments as well as delivering a public address on morality.

...and Freepers seem more than happy to play the role written for them by the Edwards people. This woman chose not to abort her unborn, out of wedlock child, and her reward is to be ridiculed as a crack whore.

Well, I'm hypothesizing here - but I'd say this woman chose not to abort this baby, because she's going to get 21 years of a pretty good chunk of Edward's fortune for child support. From what I hear of her past, I wouldn't be surprised if she had had an abortion in the past.

They didn’t kill THIS baby. It’s a start.

That picture is pre pregnancy. It’s a lot easier to remain slim if you have never had a baby. And love the coke.
Most women over 40 have had babies and thus the extra poundage.

I would love to see what our friend looks like now that she's delivered John's baby.

Am I kidding?
I don’t know what that means.

Did I say anything about what obligations a man has towards a child he sires?

That wasn’t the point of my post.

No. She didn't kill the baby. What Edwards wanted we'll probably never know. But since he's pro abortion and will not acknowledge the baby I'd guess he would have given her a police escort to the abortion clinic if she so desired.

She’s not a beauty but she is attractive. Some of the pictures are not flattering.

It always amazes me how guys on Free Republic always declare women to be ugly if they don’t look like Catherine Zeta-Jones.

I know! By the end of next week there will be a published list of guys who have all been with her and it will then be ok for John to have cheated with his wife because she is such a sl*t! Looks like the beginning of John’s rehab in the press. Sorry dude I don’t car who it was, your wife was at home dying of cancer and you were out making a baby with someone else.

Maybe I misunderstood the point of your post. When you said, “As though Edwards had any say in the matter.” - I took it as though you were saying Edwards was some sort of a victim of this woman, by her giving birth to his baby.

The point I was making was that anytime a man has sex with a woman, he is taking that risk. Even with protected sex, sometimes that fails & the woman gets pregnant anyway.

When Edwards made the decision to have sex with her, that’s when he had a “say in the matter”. I’m sorry if I misunderstood your point.

I think some of these guys watch too much TV, the land of the beautiful.

Take a stroll through Wal-Mart or even the mall and you will see real 40 something women.

(although I am still very cute! But I go to bed hungry every night - I’m one of the few in America who do)

NO No No. I'm not letting Edwards off the hook.

Johnnie is as guilty or more guilty than she is.He's married with children. Children who will now have to share their inheritance.

I was just pointing out that medals should be given or pity parties thrown for the new mother just because she didn't have an abortion.

My wife doesn't look like Catherine Zeta-Jones, (more Audrey Hepburn) but she's the most beautiful woman in the world to me.

I find la femme Hunter off-putting. She has crazy eyes and not in a good way. BTW, I said on another thread long ago, that reflecting on my single days, all easy pick ups were nut cases. Hunter definitely fits the profile.

Plus the fact that she would sleep with Edwards and is a Democrat dims her luster for most of the men on this board.

This baby isn’t much more than a meal ticket, a card to play for Ms. Druck, I suspect. Otherwise, it would have already been flushed.

This can't possibly be the only time he's had an affair. It's just the first time he was caught.

I've lived in NC over 10 yrs now and I have heard rumors ever since he ran for the Senate.

He seems to have taken responsibility and claimed paternity

But he hasn't claimed paternity. He said they had sex without loving her. And then she went on to have a out of wedlock child with another married man on his staff.

Not exactly a stand up guy.

Kerry chose to make his military service the centerpiece of his convention acceptance speech and a key element in his campaign yet anyone who had followed his political career after returning from Viet Nam would know that his antiwar anti-militrary agitation got him elected in the first place and his rhetoric and speeches since indicated a loathing of the military. If Kerry had not tried to win with this “big lie” their would never been the Swift Boat expose of him and much less anger and distrust would have been generated likely winning him the election.
Edwards then tries to do the exact same thing using his wife, family and his dedication to them as a pivotal part of his image which we now see as another “big lie”.

Obama will be done in by his “big lie” strategy also because the Democrats continue to arrogantly believe that their comrades in the media will be able to con the American people. They believe you can portray yourself in a manner 180 degrees from reality and the American people will be stupid to see through the mask.

He seems to have taken responsibility and claimed paternity because there is no other reason for him to be having secret meetings in a hotel with her and her baby.

Sorry, but he hasn't claimed paternity, he has denied it while admitting to having had sex with her. We are all pretty sure he is the father but he insists he is not.
