A US Withdrawal Deal with Sadr?
time ^ | Aug. 08, 2008 | MARK KUKIS

Shi'ite militia leader Muqtada al-Sadr stepped back into Iraq's political fray Friday with an offer that (if genuine) Washington would be hard-pressed to refuse: Set a timetable for withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, and the Mahdi Army will begin to disband. "The main reason for the armed resistance is the American military presence," said Sadr emissary Salah al-Ubaidi, who spoke to reporters in Najaf Friday. "If the American military begins to withdrawal, there will be no need for these armed groups."

Sadr in the past has vowed to expand the humanitarian work of his movement but promised to maintain fighters from his Mahdi Army militia, which has fought against both the Iraqi government and U.S. forces. Al-Ubaidi's remarks effectively offered the strongest assurances yet that the Mahdi Army is willing to stand down entirely in Iraq, if American military forces back away.

Exactly. Why in the world would be listen to this lying POS? He is a creature of Iran, pure and simple. Why he is still sucking air is a mystery to me.

He lies like a rug.

He's commanded by the Koran to lie to the infidels, if it advances the greater glory of Islam, (or his own power).

You got it right. I don’t know who is fuller with BS, Mookie the Fat or Time the Lefty?

When you are getting your balls handed to you in a bag, your offer of laying down your arms is an indication of just how bad a situation you are in.

Time magazine, like Orwell’s “1984”, has “being beaten means winning” and “winning means you need to retreat”.

Now wonder I don’t read that piece of toilet paper any more.

What bs...oh, wait...it’s time magazine. Do they recall that the US Armed Forces and the Iraqi military just recently “disbanded” mooki’s militia by killing about half of them and sending him scurrying to iran?

The stupidity of the media aka Democrats never fails to amaze me.

It's incredibly easy to refuse such a ridiculous offer...unless you're a coward or an idiot.

I swear, the media seems to love Mookie almost as much as they love Obama.

Destroy them until they disband on there own now. Sadr had his chance and we should have hung this Iranian puppet at Fallujah. This man is responsible for the death of hundreds of our men in Iraq.

Ding, ding, ding...no more calls, we have a winner!
You left out that Time is taking the opportunity to make it look like the Bush Administration is negotiating with the terrorists/insurgents.
