Shuster Snoots NatEnq Editor: As a Newsman, And I Use the Term Liberally
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 08/08/2008 2:19:02 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

David Shuster, arbiter of journalistic standards? The MSM didn't bother to pursue the Edwards story, yet Shuster, he of "pimped out" fame, has had the chutzpah to look down his nose not once but twice on the National Enqirer during an interview this afternoon with Barry Levine, its Executive Editor. Levine laid out a number of open issues, including paternity and the source of funding for Rielle Hunter's living arrangements.

BARRY LEVINE: I think this story is far from over in that regard.

DAVID SHUSTER: And finally I mean, I mean, as a newsman, and I sort of, take that term, sort of liberally for some of your critics, in terms of how they would describe the National Enquirer, but nonetheless, you did get the story right, in your estimation, where is the next aspect to this story for the National Enquirer?

A credible journalist would say, “There’s a lot more to this story, it’s not going to end anytime soon, and WE will be all over it, covering it like a rug.”

Money, paternity, silent benefactors, payment to Hunter, why didn’t she list father on birth certificate, TAX related issues, response by Edwards wife, response by Andrew Young’s wife, response by Obama, response by Hillary (and when did she know about it), response by the DNC, response by Washington Post, NYT, LA Times, AND, should we believe anything Edwards has to say EVER AGAIN...

Just for starters...

Shuster, what a colossal jerk you are. No wonder you got fired from Fox.

Well, the journalism of personal destruction is all this loser has, since the lowly National Enquirer scooped his vaunted "news" organization.

Gee, David. Maybe journalism is more than badgering Republicans to feed your enormous MSM egos, maybe it actually involves a little shoe leather.

At least the NE gave us the truth.

Edwards put his family in jeopardy, his wife’s health in jeopardy ... and, had won the nomination, his party would have taken a hit.

Not to mention donors to his campaign paid for Reille’s “films”.

Look out Enquirer, the long knives are out for you now. I’ve always said the Enquirer is more reliable than the MSM.......

One of the AP reports I read on ComcastNews said that Reille's film company was called Midline Groove, and that his campaign paid Midline Groove $100,00 for the four media pieces.

Looks like he's into her Midline Groove for a lot more than 100K when all is said and done.

Nothing makes the MSM more angry than journalists who don't follow the rule that liberal politicians are sacrosanct. To ‘journalists’ like Shuster, journalism is all about the agenda, fairness and equal treatment be damned.

I saw Schuster remark several times about the “questionable reporting” of the Enquirer. His contempt was palpable.

Not only that one of the “films” was only 2 1/2 minutes in length!!!

Welcome to the list, Crawdad! You’re in for a treat!

Mark does a great job while sacrificing himself by documenting the antics on NBC, its affiliates (sp?) as well as much print media. Brave man has been doing it for a looong while. Thus “The Today Show” list.

Thanks again, Mark.

As I noted on the other thread, I’m not sure what Shuster calls himself, but it can’t be “journalist.” A journalist doesn’t just rely on politicians’ “fixers” for their information. Doing that would make one a spokesman for the politician.

The media has dna stains on their collar from the treatment they gave Edwards and the DNC.

Look out Enquirer, the long knives are out for you now.

Wouldn't be the first time, nor likely will it be the last. The NE has made fools of the "mainstream" press quite a few times, and for a fair amount of time, to boot.

Jackanapes like Shuster are dime a dozen, and have tried before to "bury" the Enquirer, with no success whatsoever. He will not be successful either...
