Nice of you to come to that conclusion AFTER Georgia sent her sons to Afghanistan and Iraq to help us.
I hope Jim Robinson is watching this thread closely and taking down names.
I had no idea we had so many Soviet loyalists here.

My conclusion has nothing to do with Georgia. It has everything to do with it is time to get home and focus on our self defense. Time to stop playing cop.
Our trainers in Georgia have been there to conduct pre-deployment training for Georgian troops rotating into Iraq. Georgian troops are/were in Iraq to help us defeat Al Qaeda in Iraq. If you remember, it was Al Qaeda that attacked our country killing thousands.
Your remark, that we are in Georgia, "playing cop" is derogatory and incorrect.
In other words, let’s tell our allies to go eff themselves. We don’t need any friends in the world anyway.
Hell of a plan there.

I am done. They are wonderful people but it is their war not ours. I am tired of picking up every anceient grudge and takeover in Chaos-stan. Time to come home and work on defense.
They are only our allies because of convenience. This is a battle best fought by the peoples who live there. Te best thing that the Georgians can do against their Russian army is to use guerrilla tactics. And we're not much help there.
The world is more interconnected than the simplistic sheen of the 1st dimension Cs is describing; it is our concern to project our influence where it is in our national interest.
Chaos-stan is not ours and the conflicts are centuries old. We will add nothing to it. Time for us to learn how to fight like the Swiss and focus on significant defense measures.
Sometimes the best defense is a good offense, diplomatic or otherwise.
But then, perhaps you would prefer our Republic that is the world leader to sit in the corner deaf, dumb & blind to the world around them.
bttt

I would suggest to you that you read my post again.
Russian military marching through Georgia. If the supreme Russian commander’s last name is Shermansky, I’m going to freak out.
But it isn’t going to happen like that. Russia isn’t looking to re-take or occupy Georgia as a nation. The Russians are looking to push Georgian forces back out of the Ossetia region and give Georgia a bloody nose. For example taking out their airforce and a few economic targets.
The Georgians haven’t a hope of taking on the Russians without airpower. Easy for the Russians here. They push back the Georgians out of Ossetia and broker a peace deal. The international community provide a peace-keeping force and establish a buffer zone. A win win situation for Russia and the US isn’t going to get suckered into such a conflict. The U.S. will support Georgian integrity as a nation, but Russia isn’t looking to re-take or re-occupy the whole of Georgia. The Russians know that the U.S. is ham strung over this.
1. So are you saying it would be ok if Russia just bombs Georgia into submission?
2. The NATO invasion of Serbia occurred after we bombed them into submission.
Or Else what? The U.S. isn’t going to get suckered into such a conflict with a direct military response.
The Russians are simply showing Europe’s hypocrisy about Kosovo seceding from Serbia...but as with any shooting war, the intended result may produce unintended consequences.
It won’t happen but nobody would ever know if a couple F-22’s picked off some Migs.
“ehhh musta ran into a couple SAMS...”
