Amazing New Imageing Technology
T.E.D. ^ | August 8, 2008 | Blaise Aguera y Arcas

Posted on 08/08/2008 7:36:36 AM PDT by econjack

This video explains a new image technology that combines existing images from diverse sources into a single "aggregate image", making the whole greater than the sum of its parts. The video is here:

The reaction of the audience is significant. They are clearly delighted by this.

Check out the guy at 5:31 standing in front of Notre Dame.

He is doing the Obama hand gesture. Subliminal ad for Obama.

Nothing useful will ever come of this product -- it was developed and is controlled by Microsoft, which is the kiss of death of innovation (unless it is a EULA or DRM).

Look no further than when this video came out -- over a year ago!!!!

NOTHING on the radar since then.... really sad.

Well, there's good news and bad news...

The good news is you'll be able to examine the insects on a leaf of vegetation growing on a rock island off the northeast coast of Ibiza.

The bad news is that DRM and the vast amount of information that must be processed will feel like a VIC-20 trying to run VISTA.

Just saying.

This is DeepZoom / Silverlight technology and it is all over the web. You can build these applications now and quite a number are running.

Heck, check out http://www.nbcolympics.com which is Silverlight. Play any of the videos to check out Silverlight video stuff. DeepZoom was acquired by Microsoft and has been incorporated into a lot of sites including Hard Rock cafe's site as an example. Look at their memorabilia area.
