2.I agree, so they shouldn’t be causing citizens to automatically wonder if they really ARE the police, not some home invasion squad....
3. The “some guy” happened to be known as the mayor of a local town. Getting something mailed to you is not a crime-especially if you did not arrange it. Remember #1 above? The US Constitution?
4. No, I would defend my family first, calling 911 when either I or my wife could do so w/o putting anyone at risk. My right to life and that of my family is paramount in the type of situation you describe. Remember, LEOs do not have to respond to any specific 911 call, only in general (SCOTUS decision back in the 70’s)and response time varies from a few minutes to hours....
5. Maybe the dogs were simply doing what loyal dogs do.... Suggesting that the Mayor set his dogs on the cops is purely speculation and w/o merit.
All this being said, I respect and support my local LEOs-they know me and I know most of them, we shoot together on occasion and drink coffee some mornings (I swore off donuts long ago...).
MW, we agree. I was ridiculing the way the LEO groupies post.
The fact that 3 Freepers misread my post indicates two things:
1. I should write more clearly
2. This is something many of us here feel passionately about. How can we get our elected officials (who are proudly “tough on crime” to realize that we won’t tolerate this any more?
