The FBI has launched a review of the violent law enforcement raid of the home of Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo in Prince George's County last week that resulted in the deaths of the family's two dogs.
The agency has begun "reviewing the events that occurred at Mr. Calvo's residence," said Richard J. Wolf, spokesman for the FBI in Baltimore, which has jurisdiction over federal civil rights investigations in Maryland.

Courts across the country in recent years have ruled that it is almost always unacceptable for police to kill pets in the course of searching a home. Cases in three federal circuits have found that killing pets amounts to unreasonable seizure.

Update on the PG County SWAT/jackboot thug raid and dog shootings.

I hope the end result isn’t a bunch of medals for courage under adverse circumstances.

You can expect much more of this to happen, but on the federal level once Obama becomes POTUS. Janet Reno sound familiar?

I hope they OWN the cops that did this before it's over with. I'm sick of reading about out of control cops kicking doors in... KNOCK AND ANNOUCE YOURSELF LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSE TO. You aren't the Gestapo, even thou you think you are...

I can believe the police did this. I'm dealing with a loser detective that is supposed to be working on a case for me which is plain as day to see. A lot of these guys see themselves as above the law and a I'll do it when I can type attitude. I've lost most of my respect for law enforcement.

This story is unreal...the kind of thing one could expect happening in, say, Russia. This should scare all Americans. Seriously scary stuff.

Cops tend to cover for other cops unless there is some serious political pressure applied to do otherwise. My guess is that the FBI will say - “It’s a shame - but them’s the breaks”.
To: fleagle
Yeah wait until Obama gets in office with his new force of secret civilian police. We’ll all be a target.

Possibly, except that the PG County Police has been a rogue force going back to the 70’s and has been investigated many times by the FBI.

About as hard as when they made the crime of hitting or kicking a police K9 *assaulting a police officer* in many states.

Once again, we are witness to Cops behaving badly and probably getting away with it.

I hope the end result isnt a bunch of medals for courage under adverse circumstances. So, kicking down the door tying up grandma and shooting the family pets is an example of courage.
Somehow I don't think so.

"I hope they OWN the cops that did this before it's over with. I'm sick of reading about out of control cops kicking doors in... KNOCK AND ANNOUCE YOURSELF LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSE TO." I agree. This "no-knock, dynamic entry" type of home invasion by law enforcement needs to be eliminated completely. I frankly don't give a damn if some junkie or junk dealer has the opportunity to flush some drugs down the toilet. There have already been WAY WAY too many "wrong house" incidents.
