Why aren’t we threatening the Russians to back off in order to protect our Georgian friends? The Russians may be brutal but they’re not crazy and if they see that we are firm on them, they’ll back off.

Bush will have to handle this crisis while he is in Beijing.

Wonder what the Chinese think?

Maybe we want the Russians to focus on Georgia while the Chinese are busy with the Olympics so we can sanction (blockade) Iran.

W and Putin are both in China, and have been reported by Fox as being seen together.

We're not going to do anything about this. Kosovo was a geopolitical blunder of the first order.

Yeah, lets get involved with Russia now.

If they don't do what we want, we'll bomb Moscow...Good thinking.

At 11:00 President Bush “demanded” an immediate cease fire.

I don’t think much else happened...

Because they’re still a nuclear power and we don’t get into direct military confrontations with them. Unless or until they have zero ICBMs we’ll proxy war all conflicts with Russia no matter what their name is. Sure they MIGHT not be crazy enough, but do you want to stake the lives of every single person in the world based on the sanity of a bunch of guys on the other side of the planet whose name you probably don’t even know?
