According to the article (which can’t be posted on FR), Putin has talked to Bush...they’re both at the Olympics.

I was quoting 6 inches from memory for an underground shelter.

I looked for a long time for plans on underground shelters and from what I remember, it was 6-8 inches, and the shielding concerns gave way somewhat to how well that thickness would support all that earth above it.

From all the research I did, there is a misconception that you MUST have lead to stop radiation and it just isn't true. You can use dirt, wood, concrete, the difference is just how thick it has to be. A good place to do research is survival ring

The best plans I found (that wouldnt automatically cost 40K) were from a FEMA pamphlet that you cant get any more (I actually called FEMA).

Your post #55 is brilliant.

It reminds me of two things; 1) Patton; 2) McCain is Bush, but worse.

I like Bush personally but some of his judgement has been terrible. He should have cleaned out State and the CIA on 1/20/01.

W and Putin are both in China, and have been reported by Fox as being seen together.

McCain is Bush, but worse.

FALSE, on this issue. While Bush sees the "soul" when looking into Bloody Vlad's eyes, McCain is spot-on regarding the Russian threat. McCain advocates isolating Russia in all regards. I wish McCain would be right now President to handle the Russian invasion of Georgia!

Why aren’t we threatening the Russians to back off in order to protect our Georgian friends? The Russians may be brutal but they’re not crazy and if they see that we are firm on them, they’ll back off.

We're not going to do anything about this. Kosovo was a geopolitical blunder of the first order.

Why not just hand it off to Obama and see how he does on the fly?

Obama is likely to suggest that the Germans get involved. Perhaps the Wehrmacht I mean the Bundeswehr can move into the east and cut into the soft underbelly of Russia. They have some experience in matters of this sort.

I was enjoying your sarcasm up until I got to this point and got confused as to whether this is sarcasm or not.

Yeah, lets get involved with Russia now.

If they don't do what we want, we'll bomb Moscow...Good thinking.

Truman threatened this indirectly in 1946 when the Russians refuesed to leave Iran. He was successful. The Soviets left.

Yeah, while Bush is watching the frisbee competition between the Congo and Mongolians, he should start issuing threats to Russia.

Uhm no. He should return and THEN issue threats. Bush should return ASAP to the US (or if he is a daredevil better to Tiflis) and declare full US support to Georgia, or at least give a dire warning to the Russians. A Pandora’s box is being opened in the Caucasus.
