The republicans can’t touch it because McCain was born in Panama, if they attack Obama on this point the blow-back could take out their candidate. (Both out? Hurt me, hurt me!)

Hillary!™ knows. She can’t be seen as the one who knifes Obama as his worshipers would kill her at the poles or literally.

I’m pretty sure she will have a surrogate set up a conservative to release the information.

Timing? Too close to the convention for Barack to do any damage control, if it is on Hillary!™’s schedule. The day after the convention if the Chosen One is a smart conservative.

“The republicans can’t touch it because McCain was born in Panama, if they attack Obama on this point the blow-back could take out their candidate.”

That is patently false.

I know more than a hundred people born overseas to Army families(mostly in Germany). Being born on a military base is exactly the same as being born on U.S. soil. There is no debate about that, and Obama’s potential situation is only vaguely similar.

McCain’s being born in Panama is completely irrelevant, since both of his parents were U.S. citizens at the time. Any person born to two U.S. citizens, regardless of the place of birth, is a full, total, natural-born U.S. citizen. Period. That’s the law.

Totally wrong. Both of McCain's parents were US citizens at the time of his birth, which makes him a natural born citizen under the laws then and now. Obama's claim to natural born citizenship has not been proven and this forged COLB makes it even more dubious.

I don’t think it is a matter of the republicans not wanting to touch it, but a matter of them not having the balls to touch it. There will be hell to pay to anyone that tries to take the media’s messiah.

That's just not accurate. There is NO QUESTION AT ALL that the children of US Citizen military (or government) personnel born overseas are "native born" U.S. citizens. That is established and well tested law. Having only one parent a citizen though, at the time of Obama's birth, with her not being resident in the USA for a period of time before he was born--makes him NOT a "native born" American IF he were not born in the USA.

There is no legal comparison to Obama (if he wasn't born in Hawaii) and McCain in this.

The "dual citizenship" question above is also troubling. Has America EVER had a President with dual citizenship?

I know in a technical sense its not (supposed) to even be possible with naturalized citizens, since in the oath they swear when they become US citizens, they forswear all other national loyalties. Of course many lie....and keep dual citizenship.

McCain is an official U.S. citizen since the Panama Canal Zone was controlled by the U.S. and McCain's father was stationed there. All McCain's parents had to do was file a form called a "Report of Child Born Abroad of American Parent(s)". I'm sure he could present this paperwork or its equivalent at the time.

But we can't even get a legitimate Birth Certificate from Obama. And then there was that wierd comment by Bill Clinton when asked whether Obama is qualified to lead the country. He said, "He meets all the conditions under the Constitution." He's speaking in code.
