A Nebraska state senator is moving forward with his controversial lawsuit against his maker, requesting "a permanent injunction ordering [God] to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats."
State Sen. Ernie Chambers, I-Omaha, appeared before Douglas County District Judge Marlon Polk in a scheduling hearing against God on July 28.
Chambers, an atheist, requested that the court acknowledge the presence of God in the courtroom so he wouldn't be required to "serve notice" of the trial, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

The complaint drew widespread criticism when Chambers filed the lawsuit against God last year for creating "fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues, ferocious famines, devastating droughts, genocidal wars, birth defects and the like."
Chambers also blames God for causing "calamitous catastrophes resulting in the wide-spread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earths inhabitants including innocent babes, infants, children, the aged and infirm without mercy or distinction."

Can God sue back for the hundreds of millions of people that atheism has killed in the past century alone?

Actually, he needs to sue Adam, because it was his sin that caused all of this.
However, how can an atheist sue someone he doesn't believe exists? Isn't this suit tantamount to an admission of the existence of God?

There was a very good episode of Touched by and Angel where a town sues God because of a drought. It was very, very touching, and as always, God wins!

I couldn't remember why that name struck a chord in my mind until I saw his picture. I remember him from the days when I taught at Creighton University. One of my fellow econ profs was a far-left liberal and would invite Ernie to come in and speak to his classes. He was pretty much a nut job then and it appears he hasn't made any progress in the past 30 years.

If the judge has a sense of humor, he'd defer the case to a "higher" court.

He stole this idea from a movie. I can't remember the name, but it starred Billy Connelly(sp?) as a man who sued God because his insurance turned down a flood or fire or something as an 'act of God'...

Doesn’t this lawsuit require that he recognize God’s existence? And if he wins, what does he get?

The judge should just require that he personally serve notice on God and he will have to pay court processing fees each day until he does.
