Obama Pledges ‘Total Equality’ for Same-Sex Families

CNSNews.com) - Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), who has studiously avoided coming out in full support of same-sex marriage, may have finally tipped his hand on how he really feels.

In recent letters written to homosexual activist groups, the presumed Democratic nominee said he supports homosexual couples adopting babies. Further, he said, he wants to repeal the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which defines marriage as being between one man and one woman – and forbids states from being forced to accept any other definition of marriage under the U.S. Constitution’s Full Faith and Credit Clause.

In an Aug. 1 letter to a Boston-based homosexual rights group, the Family Equality Council, Obama specifically pledged to use the presidency to overturn DOMA – and pledged his support for homosexual “families” and efforts to totally redefine marriage.

He can pledge all he wants. We’ve already vote “No” here.

I think he really screwed up now.

He has none of the working class Democratic vote, nor the older women who were pro-Hillary...and desperately need the black vote across the US to make this all work. Most of the southern Black vote was tied to religious groups weren’t pro-gay...so this will be a difficult candidate to convince those in this group to vote for him. He should have kept his mouth shut and avoid any discussion on this topic.

So did California.

Oh, please. He's got 95% of the black vote. Period.

“Same-sex families”-—is that where every member of the family is the same sex? Or does the ‘same sex’ part just apply to the parents? (sarcasm)

They may publicly or as a group be against it, but there are a lot of moms who love their black, gay sons. It will factor in.

He’ll just write or say something different to appease groups who don’t want anything to do with gay marriage.

Then he’ll clarify his position(s).

The MSM will then swoon over his speaking talent.

All will be well in Obamaville.

He just appeases whatever group he is addressing and the MSM lets him get away with it.

He may have stepped in it with this.

While some polls suggest growing support for partnership or “civil union” type rights for same-sex couples, there’s nowhere that much support for full same-sex marriage.

See, we can give partnership rights to same-sex without changing the definition of marriage, and without repealing the Defense of Marriage Act.

The Defense of Marriage Act defines marriage as 1 man 1 woman. It doesn’t say anything about banning partner rights or partner benefits or anything else.

The only reason someone would want to get rid of the Defense of Marriage Act is so that there will be no federal definition of marriage. Then the courts will move in and impose same-sex marriage.

I wish the liberals would be intellectually honest enough to admit that this is where they are headed. They want to do away with marriage definitions, so that the courts can define marriage for us.

Does anyone not now understand that this is about destruction of the family?

That all “liberal” policies have this goal?

While you and I can easily see this as a blunder for him, I think liberals are not voting for him, they are voting against George Bush... their hatred is so consuming that they wouldn’t care if obama admitted he was Satan - they are going to vote against any Republican.

I wish the liberals would be intellectually honest enough to admit that this is where they are headed.

They know they can't be. They ALWAYS operate from stealth and from cover.

It's infuriating, because we know we'll win any honest argument on ideas.

However, on the flip side, it makes them actually easier to defeat, because all we have to do is expose them.
To defeat the left, expose the left.

Do you think that your vote will matter to the leftists? Watch for a future Supreme Court decision (Roe v. Wade-style) nullifying all state and federal prohibitions on gay "marriage." Tony Kennedy will probably write it, and will be joined by Breyer, Ginsburg, Souter and a couple of Obama appointees.
