The city of Detoit was (and or is) in the process of selling an asset to them, ( either the tunnel or a bridge) and he claims the trip was to discuss this.

Windsor also has Casinos.....

Gives him more street cred that way...

Even for detroit, this is becoming comical.

Kwame KilpatrickDETROIT - BREAKING NEWS - Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been ordered to go to jail he was immediately taken from the court room after Judge Ronald Giles ruled he violated his bond.

The mayor had apologized to a judge for leaving the country and not informing the court. The mayor asked for forgiveness and described the incredible pressure he’s under.

The mayor says such a trip won’t happen again. He told Jiles he’s been living in an “incredible” state of pressure and scrutiny for 7 months. The mayor went across the border last month to push the sale of the city’s half of the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Kilpatrick faces perjury and other charges before Giles and is required to alert the court of all travel plans.

Poor Kwame. He is now reaping what he has sowed. And that’s a lot of sowing.

I wonder how many people have left Detroit so far this year?

My God, what a mess. Used to be one of the finest cities in America. Now it’s a stinking morass of corruption and ineptness.

Sounds like DC.

Hmmpph.

The Mayor told the judge that such a trip won’t happen again.

The judge agreed and ensured it.

The question is does the Governor now get some testicular fortitude and remove him which she can do.

IMHO, the Atty General Mr. Cox has been making hints of prosecuting him for felony assault to an Officer, which he is alleged to have done recently.

However, my question is, is this a political move to take the wind out of the AG's sails since it is theorized he would use this to springboard a run for the Governorship of Michigan.

The mayor went across the border last month to push the sale of the city’s half of the Detroit-Windsor tunnel.

Even if true, this indicates that his current legal problems are impacting his ability to perform his official functions...all the more reason he needs to be removed from office.

The sad thing is that his poll numbers will probably go up, and the good citizens of Detroit would re-elect him in a heart beat.

Why would anyone go to Windsor? Not a snarky comment. I’m genuinely curious.

I go there because my fiance lives there.

Others go there for the Casino. There are Casino's in Detroit, and I doubt the fact that the ones in Detroit are filled with cigarette smoke, while smoking is not allowed in the ones in Windsor, so I suspect the mayor went for other reasons.

The drinking age in Canada is only 19, so maybe he has a 19 or 20 year old mistress he wanted to take out for a night on the town.

Maybe he prefers the totally nude strip joints in Windsor.

Maybe he wanted some Cuban cigars.

Maybe he just thought he could lose the press that is likely hounding him, and didn't think he'd be held accountable.
