WASHINGTON - A Connecticut congressman took his turn Wednesday in an unusual piece of political guerrilla theater taking place on one of the most prominent stages in the country: the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Rep. Chris Shays, the lone New England Republican in the House, stood in the chamber of the recessed Congress where the lights are low and microphones are off until the session resumes in September and demanded that the Democratic majority come back to the Capitol and allow a debate on energy policy.
More specifically, Shays and several other Republicans who returned to Washington during this five-week recess want a vote on more oil and natural gas drilling. Shays described their plan as "a comprehensive approach, which also includes drilling."
"We have been deprived of a debate," Shays argued on the floor.

Thanks. Then I should cut C-Span some slack on the matter. I appreciate the correction.
Are we allowed to take cameras into the chamber? If so, we should take that video and post it on some Republican sight.
The CT Ping list has been dead for a few months, but I'm gonna try to be more active again.
Let me know if you want on or off of this Ping List.
Heck CSPAN won't run it, drop your own line out the building or use a jury rigged wire to the High Speed Cable out of the building to a Website and Broadcast live on the Web.
Rotate shifts so you have 24 hour coverage.
Fox and all of Talk Radio will Cover it and it will get ground swell support.
Can't the GOP leadership think this up? Gosh are they that inept?
Keep me on it, please. Thanks.
Duuugh.. (hands on hips) (patronizing glare)
They could go to such lengths, but then they’d be violating their own House rules, giving Pelosi and the Dems an issue they’d love to yammer about instead of the energy issue.
Is there a listing of the Representatives that are taking part in this protest?
keep me on it thanks!
