The same government that defies the Supreme Court over the Second Amendment and wanted to search homes without warrants or probable cause, so I'm not surprised. They don't deserve self government.

That's the underlying problem with Washington. It's so far away from the rest of the nation, and even Jefferson feared that the capital would become inadequate as the young nation acquired land.
Washington D.C. is a shining beacon of the success of liberal policies. With the voting populous consistently choosing to the left by over 90% in every election, there is no better example of the final utopian result of an unfettered liberal society.
Indeed they don’t. DC is the whole county under an Obama administration.
Since 9/11 there has been a recurring theme from the Chicken Littles about some batch of bad guys setting off a nuke in one of our major cities.
When New York City is mentioned - or San Francisco or Los Angeles or Chicago, I have to admit the financial hit could seriously hurt us. When they talk about D.C. though, I have to think a bit harder to find a down-side to that possibility. I haven’t been there in many years but both Hiroshima and Nagasaki were neat, clean and orderly compared to Yokohama and Tokyo.
