Only this time, Barack Obama will be a little less subtle about his purposes. On the second day of the Republican Convention, Obama will do some low-key fundraising … among Hollywood heavyweights … in Geneva, Switzerland. George Clooney will arrange for a $1,000 a plate reception, but that’s just the appetizer: Academy award winning actor George Clooney is set to host a fundraiser for Barack Obama in Switzerland next month. The event, taking place on the evening of September 2 in Geneva, Switzerland will be split into two parts: a reception and a dinner. According to Obama’s National Finance Committee, tickets for the reception where Clooney will speak are going for $1,000, followed by a dinner at the home of NFC member Charles Adams for $10,000 a plate. Space for the dinner is limited to 75 guests.

"It’s legal as long as he is collecting from US citizens."

And who is going to check that out?

“Mc Cain should jump all over this crap”

No, at the convention. Then joke about it.

Should work out perfectly... for McCain.

The juxtaposition of McCain winning the nomination while Barry hobnobs it up with elitist celebs in Obama friendly Europe will be perfect fodder for McCain and the Republicans.

I don’t know who’s running the Barry O’s itinerary, but he/she is either a Republican or a Hillary supporter.

It used to be that the two parties agreed to not do anything during each other’s convention. Used to be.

I think it’s legal only if you’re soliciting Americans. I’m not sure why it should be illegal to solicit Americans in Switzerland, though.

What’s interesting is that Hollywood seems to reside in Europe these days.

"but he/she is either a Republican or a Hillary supporter."

Wasn't there some brouhaha over him hiring ex-Hillery campaign workers?

Hey, they're Democrats - they're special and the rules do not apply to them.

(the scene from the first Matrix film comes to mind as Neo, er, I mean Mr. Anderson, is scolded by his boss at work - "you think you're special and that the rules do not apply to you")

Obama will be making a big mistake if he goes to Geneva for a fund raiser after the Coinvention. He is making this election seem like he is running for President of the World rather than the US.

LOL. Yeah right, the MSM will be all over this. LOL. If McCain doesn’t go after Obama on this, he isn’t fit to be dog catcher let alone President.

No, he should not.

There is only one problem with that. The media will not tell the public and we are just preaching to the choir. Might be up to McCain to force the media's hand on this.

Well has been saying that he wants to Change™ politics as usual. He just conveniently forgets to mention that he wants to Change™ it to make everything, everywhere about him and only about him.

He has already as much as said that in his speech in Germany. Remember, he is not a citizen of the United States but rather a citizen of the world. Hell, if you go to some German websites such as Der Spiegel they even come right out and say that he not running for the US presidency but for the presidency of the world.

The man is so far gone from reality that I don't know whether to laugh at him or be afraid of him. He has surrounded himself with people who view him as some sort of deity who is destined to be the saviour of the world for so long that he is actually starting to believe it to be so. I shudder to think what this creature will do if given the awesome power of the presidency. VOTE FOR MCCAIN!
