Critical of McCain, Obama quiet on own energy vote

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Democratic candidate Barack Obama criticized Republican John McCain on Tuesday for taking a page out of "the Cheney playbook" on energy, overlooking his own support of oil-friendly policies that the unpopular vice president helped to craft.

Obama voted for a 2005 energy bill backed by President Bush that included billions in subsidies for oil and natural gas production, a measure for which Vice President Dick Cheney played a major role. McCain opposed the bill, saying at the time that it included billions in unnecessary tax breaks for the oil industry.

Republicans should boycott, YES BOYCOTT, any of the biased media networks. They should not be given the title of ‘newmen or women’. Might as well go out fighting rather than taking more of their BS. This is yet more evidence of their choice of ‘news’ and protecting their boy.

150 MILES PER GALLON

OBAMA'S 10 YEAR PLAN

From an electric plugin hybrid that Obama says "I will direct it to be available within 10 years"?

"No nuclear, coal, or offshore, ANWAR, foreign oil!

Fill 'er up with a gallon of Solar/Wind stuff!"

Obama pledged direct financial support for Michigan's bedrock auto industry and urged changes in the way the country creates and consumes energy.

He called for $4 billion in guaranteed loans and tax credits to help U.S. automakers retool for more fuel-efficient cars and to develop batteries for plug-in hybrids that get up to 150 m.p.g. The new breed of automobiles would fetch a $7,000 federal tax credit for buyers.

..Obama said the auto industry would benefit from his $150-billion, 10-year plan to develop alternative energy sources, including fuel cells to power vehicles.

"I know how much the auto industry and the autoworkers of this state have struggled over the last decade or so," Obama told about 1,000 supporters at the Lansing Center who sang him "Happy Birthday" on his 47th. "But I also know where I want the fuel-efficient cars of tomorrow to be built -- not in Japan, not in China, but right here in the United States of America. Right here in the state of Michigan."

Obama also called again for an immediate $1,000 "energy rebate" to U.S. families, paid for with higher taxes on oil company profits.
