McCain gets Obama-sized
Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | Salena Zito

Posted on 08/05/2008 9:36:12 AM PDT by Salena Zito

The Heartland supersized Sen. John McCain last night at a ginormous motorcycle rally in Sturgis, S.D.

While no one shouted "Free Bird" to McCain while he was speaking -- a pop culture homage to Lynyrd Skynyrd whose 2008 version of the band is playing at the rally -- the Republican presumptive nominee did call attention to the larger than normal size of his crowd:

"As you may know, not long ago, a couple hundred thousand Berliners made a lot of noise for my opponent. I'll take the roar of 50,000 Harleys any day."

Amazing what speaking at free concerts will do to pump up the crowd size.

She is so wrong abouyt the “lunch pail democrats”! The average income of a Harley rider right now is $80,000 a year, many are white collar workers. A lot of them vets too.

I applaud McCain for going to the Sturgis rally.

Most of the elite Washington crowd don’t even know what it is. Lots of those bikers are Vets, also.

Especially when you have a captive audience, speaking before the concert.

So, I’d like to know the response these lunch pail Democrats gave McCain.

McCain's trip to the Americana version of cycling was not without risks, he did oppose the "Buy America" restriction in 2005 that required the Secret Service to use only American made cycles.

Rode up into the North Georgia Mountains Sunday on a Softtail Harley.

If you want to know how these “lunch-pail democrats” received him, you might want to look at the Sturgis schedule of events for that day...

http://www.sturgismotorcyclerally.com/rally-events/index.php?action=GoEventDate&date=04&page=12

especially notable is the playing of “Taps” by the Patriot Riders Guard. The whole schedule reads like a giant Boy Scout Jamboree for adults - if the Boy Scouts would let KISS and Kid Rock play, that is...

We own 3, A 1973 FLH, a 1983 Roadster, and an old 40’s 3 wheeler that needs to be restored. :)

Dear Senator McCain,

If you take 1,000 of those Harley riders with you on a caravan to Capitol Hill in support of our (R) Congressmen rebelling against the Pelosi enviro-cartel, I promise to stop calling you nicknames. Heck, I promise I'll even send you a campaign contribution. You would get the most awesome press coverage for it and the photo ops would be incomparable. Go for it!

“Speaking in front of a crowd filled with lunch pail Democrats, McCain made a strong pitch to appeal for their vote by admonishing congress for leaving Washington without passing a new energy plan. He also saluted the troops by telling the crowd that his Iraq plan has the troops coming home with victory and honor, “so that we never have to go back again.”

You need to do research on the cost of Harleys, and who is buying riding the new Harley’s.

I have two brother in laws and their wives with Harley’s. They and their wives were never lunch pail democrats.

The better term might be RUBs. Rich Urban Bikers.

I was pointing out that the crowd was filled with lunch pail democrats, the voters he needs to appeal to, not that that was the only voter types in the crowd.

I read a few years back that the average Harley rider was, get this, a Dentist!
