“I find it shameful that we have not built a refinery since 1972.”

Thank a Democrat!!

In 1905,the Glenn Pool Oil discovery in Oklahoma went from discovery in a remote wilderness to full production in just 2 years. That means wells drilled, infrastructure built, storage tanks built,(they use to flow the oil into earthen pits before they got the tanks built btw), and pipelines spanning some 450 miles were completed by late 1907.

And remember folks...most of the area had no rail lines, so the equipment was brought to the area on MULES!!

When the figures were tallied in 1908, some 95 companies were operating in the field, 1196 wells were producing. Total production had topped 27 million barrels.

So when a democrat tells you that it will be 10 years to get the oil to market from offshore drilling....tell them the Glenn Pool story.

In Brazil the ethanol is from sugar cane if i remember correctly and it does not effect the food supply or food prices.
They don't use or export sugar in Brazil?

IIRC (when I was in 5th grade, someone brought in a few pieces of sugar cane to show the class -- 5th grade was a long time ago!), sugar cane is about an inch or so thick, and it's the inside that's refined into sugar. The outer woody (again IIRC) husk or rind or whatever I think is what Brazil makes into ethanol.

In any case, from what I read, sugar cane is a much better source for ethanol -- produces far more energy per pound (or whatever the appropriate measure is) than corn.

Somebody posted above about the price of oil dropping at a high rate immediately after the President ordered Congress to allow the start of drilling. THIS IS TRUE. The Dems know it and won’t let you know it. It has something to do with futures and it’s the same as if a hurricane is coming to the Gulf or their is war speculation with Iran and the prices go up. From my understanding, The more oil prospectively on the market brings the price down. Regardless of how long it will take to actually get the oil to gas at the pumps and oil for home heating. Another argument they throw at us is that we will sell it overseas. Again, that doesn’t matter (tho I don’t like it) as long as there is more oil available, the price of oil comes down.

I am sure I am somewhat correct in the above info but anyone that knows the actual concept of how it works should correct me.
We should also remind them in our phone calls that their majority in November is going to go bye-bye if they continue to act this way.

Good morning, my FRiends. You'll have to soldier on without me for a few days but I know you are up to the task. Here are the words of the latest Shanklin parody as my parting salute:
With a Russian-style military band piece playing in the background, an announcer comes on (sounding a bit like a Slavic Jesse Jackson) ...

Announcer: Now a message from comrade speaker of the house, Nancy Pelosi.

SanFranNan: Recently, the Republicans attempted to use the House chamber to confuse the American people about our country’s energy needs. They have unfairly accused me of turning off the lights, microphones, and C-SPAN cameras. I did not do any such thing; I told the janitor to do it, to save our precious natural resources.

While on vacation for the next six weeks, DemocRATs will be thinking seriously about our country’s energy needs – instead of all this crazy talk of drilling for more oil. I call upon all Americans to use alternative energy sources like wind and solar, to commute to work and cool their homes over the next six weeks. Let’s show Republicans how to think our way through this crisis.

Hear it here: RushLimbaugh.com It's on the free side, middle column under the Time Magazine cover "Is Nancy Pelosi Good for America?" Enjoy

I believe you are correct. I watched a show on NatGeo about how they made ethanol from the sugar cane in Brazil. IIRC, It does not effect the sugar used for food, and it does yield way more ethanol that corn.

True; but as we’ve seen this past few weeks in the Senate, ONE SENATOR can hold up all legislation as long as the rest of his team support him, and there’s nothing anyone can do, as Reed found out.

The democrats are recycling the LIE that drilling does not matter.

They want to defy the laws of physics and supply and demand.

“drilling does not matter” is just a lie the DBM and Democrats are repeating in order to make a meme into truth.

Drilling matters.

(then again democrats once said they want every vote to count too.)

FOOTNOTE: Obama is the new Jimmy Carter.

BTTT!

Political Power Flowing from the Pump

"In one of the more ironic acts of political theatre we have witnessed, Speaker Nancy Pelosi last Friday ordered the lights be shut off when Republicans refused to leave the floor of the House of Representatives, determined to continue the debate over offshore drilling. Granted, Madam Speaker is often in the dark herself, but the great irony here is that she used her control over energy to stifle a debate about increasing energy supply.

One wonders if this display of power is not illustrative of a deeper malady; a lust for control that transcends the normal political power wrangling between parties. Control energy and you can control people. Nancy Pelosi used her power over the lighting system to silence her political opponents..."

Gee, I wonder why? It seems as though the prices have been dropping ever since Bush lifted the ban, and now with the Congressional Republicans trying to force a vote to start drilling.....looky looky....speculators are taking their profits and running.

Pay attention NANCY!!!!

Every public meeting held by our government is 'Public Domain', whether in Committee or the Press gallery. If they desire to have it restricted then it should be held one-on-one in private, which they can easily arrange.
