Muslim sues, demands apology over head scarf

A Muslim woman is claiming she was denied employment at an American clothing store because she wears a religious headscarf, or hijab, and she wants an apology.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, filed an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint against an Oklahoma Abercrombie Kids store claiming a district manager told her the hijab "does not fit the Abercrombie image."

"Employers have a clear legal duty to accommodate the religious practices of their workers," executive director Razi Hashmi said. "To deny someone employment because of apparent religious bias goes against long-standing American traditions of tolerance and inclusion."

Hashmi said Abercrombie & Fitch's corporate "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics" states: "The Company will adhere to its employment policies of non-discrimination as it relates to race, color, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation or handicap and will ensure compliance with all legal and other regulations governing employment."

CAIR sent a letter to Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Michael Jefferies requesting a formal apology to the Muslim woman. It also asked that the company make its policy on religious accommodation more clear and require employees to attend sensitivity and diversity training.

Islam is not a religion. Religion is merely one component of a complete system. It demands total obedience of all people including non muslims tantamount to Nazism. Their goal is the same as was the Nazis, world domination. The following article provides more insight.

Unreal. I could not care less about A&F “fashion” sense but if a clothing store cannot determine it’s own “look” and sense of style, whatever that may be, then we might as well have the Islamo-jihadists dictate every inch and second of our lives right now. I mean c’mon, damnit, this is so asinine, how can a proprietor of a clothing store not enjoy the freedom to determine what sort of clothing and styles they want to promote? If you want to wear the hijab don’t expect to be a “style consultant” for A&F or for any store that does not emphasize the hijab as the leading element in female fashion. Period.

Their goal entirely. They can go screw themselves.

“...claiming a district manager told her the hijab “does not fit the Abercrombie image.” “

Whatever happened to the old “we hired a more qualified applicant” story?

Of course I agree with you. It seems to me a bit strange though that she would be told she wasn’t hired because of her head scarf, and what proof does she have that she was told that? There’s no way I would have hired her, and there’s no way I would have told her it was because of her head scarf.

Is it just me or is there a strange dichotomy going on here? Why would an adherent to TROP want anything at all to do with A&F,the epitome of western decadence? regards

It’s just CAIR scum trying to make a fuss — I doubt the person even wants to work at A&F, it’s just a way to impose their demands and beliefs on every corner of American life.

Next stop will be “The GAP” then nightclubs..... and then by the time they have imposed this upon every retail and pop culture outlet in America they will move on to running the gay bathhouses — oh, then liberals might be concerned, but maybe not!

A CAIR setup perhaps?

This latest incident is just an excuse. It's another method for muzzies to inflict their way of life on others. Like the socialists, they are using the court system to accomplish their goal.

She wears the hijab because she believes that she must be covered up least lecherous men look at her.

Perhaps she should try shaking down Hooters.

Yeah, right. Islam is opposed to tolerance and inclusion. Ergo, Islam goes against longstanding American tradition.

“The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission recently issued new guidelines to protect religious groups, employers and labor organizations. According to USA Today, the agency estimates religious-discrimination reports have double in frequency in the last 15 years.

The new guide shields workers who ask for time off for religious holidays and workers who wear religious attire, such as a hijab.”

I had thought that the compulsion experienced by the current Republican Administration to impose Mohammedanism and sharia law on non Mohammedan populations only applied in foreign countries. Now I see I was wrong.

Since McCain has been on the payroll of the Islamofascists for years and to the tune of millions of dollars, I think its a safe bet we can expect more of the same from him. Odd how so many people are terrified that Obama is a Mohammedan while all along its the Republicans who have embraced and now are imposing Islam on Christian people in the Balkans and throughout the ME.

Yes, CAIR will be after Hooters next, and then it will be a demand to be selected for Playboy covers and “The Girls Next Door” show...... what’s a little hijab to get in the way of exploiting western decadence?

I think that the Jews and the vegans know better than to work at a butcher shop making pork chops.

No one is forced to work anywhere in this country. When you go to work for a clothing store, you represent their company. The Popw would probably be asked to remove his big hat too if he were working in the shoe department.

Tell her to go home and sell dates in the bazaar. You wear what your employer asks or you work elsewhere. It’s that simple. Freedom of speech cannot be infringed by the government; it doesn’t cover other people.
