CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- President Hugo Chavez is aiming to set up neighborhood-based militias, move toward a socialist economy in Venezuela and increase state control over agriculture under a package of laws enacted by presidential decree.
Changes in areas from the military to small business loans were pushed through by the president in 26 laws released Monday in the official gazette.

Give Obama a couple years, he will join Chavez. Maybe they’ll fight over who gets to be king of the commies.

We should be about a year from Venezuela being near starvation due to bad weather brought on by global warming.
Or at least that’s what the media will say. Count on it.

Last I heard, Venezuela was still a democracy. They can vote him out of office. The U.S. supported a coup against Chavez in 2002. Not the way for a champion of democracy to behave.
Are we sure that this isn't a story about Obama?
Obamesiah has mentioned the formation of civilian security forces, and when the reaction came to his suggestion, it was pushed onto his back burner.
Make no mistake, Obama means to have neighborhood militias of leftists who will patrol their neighborhoods enforcing the redistribution of wealth and status to racial and ethnic minorities. It will be done the way that AMerican Muslims already have neighborhood patrols to keep drugs out of their communities, but there also is a loss of freedom which accompanies that theocratic patrol. Obama means to fund that with our tax money.
Its the first step towards institutionalizing an American version of Sharia law.

Imagine the force of Political Correctness with that kind of regime in place - especially with the race card and the 'class' (wealth=evil) card.
PC is already bad enough that no real learning or discussion takes place in schools and universities, I can't fathom where this sort of thing will leave us!
Scary - I even may be forced to vote for the other (but less scary) liberal democrat.
I wonder if the oil companies and business still think their investments are worth it.
